this is @StarryOrange book about the spammers, mass reporters and more of scratch but i actually published it as a project instead just notes and credit! read it below or in the project! istg this gets worse day by day so basically im ranting here so if yall got nothing to do feel free to read it :') tAblE oF cONteNts (yes a book now) 1. Mass reporting 2. Fame hunger? (is that what its called) 3. rip scratchers 4. resharing terms of service? ~-> Mass reporting <-~ As so many of you know this is becoming a scary reality for anyone who gets seen. after what happened with ts (see bottom) its basically a fact that if you get views you WILL get reported. Its not really the scratch team's fault since they're doing a relatively good job for a team of <100 monitoring 100 mil< Instead i blame the 5 yros and people who decide to take their anger out on the trending page :/ i honestly think there should be a ban/mute for false reporting too often because there really isn't a much better way to handle it.. Its terrible that when you go on trending literally half the projects are taken down, or something just because of reporters. As someone who has had projects banned 10+ times for quite literally no reason, its really irritating to work hours and hours on something just for a bored kid to come along and decide to report. often along with these, come bans, and those suck (obviously) for those of you who don't know what its like you basically can't do anything once logging into your account, you can't check messages, work on projects, comment, play games, nothing. you're just stuck on a screen with a ban message until its over (or not) either way, mass reporting has become a really big problem on scratch, and it really ruins everyone's experience. feel free to tell me what you think about it in the comments ;-; (btw ts stands for team scorpion, a group that decided to mass report famous scratchers to destroy scratch. very recently, early april only.) 2. Fame (hunger?) as ya'll may know, recently a scratcher managed to get not 1, not 2, but FOUR projects on top 10 trending at the same time - unheard of! A lot of people wondered how this was achieved, but its a simple answer. This scratcher reshared their projects multiple times a day everyday to use the glitch to get higher on trending, and proceeded to stay there for nearly a week. Not only that, but a couple of the projects used assets, or code without credit, leading to this scratcher getting reported and temp banned multiple times. After getting unbanned, the scratcher admitted to being fame hungry, and thankfully agreed not to abuse this glitch anymore, but they were just one of many. Lately, trending is set so without resharing, you really can't get on. Unfortunately this has led to many taking too much advantage of it and constantly resharing filler, stolen, or generic projects to fill up trending spots, and spamming with unrelated tags. Adding tons of tags also boosts where you are in trending, but both of these methods in large amounts are a bannable offense. (more on this in 4) Honestly scratch isn't about being famous, and while its nice to be seen, it irritates me that the trending page is all people care about now! every day i see dozens of comments from people asking if i can help them get on trending, or give them a shoutout, or like their projects. its sad that i have a long, interesting conversation with people on my profile and then they go "also can you follow me?" or "and can you follow me so people see me?" its annoying to know that people just want to use you for fame.. Traits of a fame hungry scratcher (ALWAYS CARRY REPELLANT!) - constantly advertises where it isn't welcome - spams UNRELATED TAGS - reshares MULTIPLE times every day - reposts copies of generic games, just reskinned - steals ;-; - when caught DENIES even though its clear- (just in my opinionnn) (continued in notes)
(3) read instructions first ~-> A moment of silence for some scratchers <-~ even though some scratchers think its funny to post hate and mass report, it really has consequences scratchers who were banned/left due to hate (or were considering): @bill-0 @starryorange (yep, i was considering it) @rc14600 @-JoshyLeKing- @trentontnt @IncognitoOrange (Im blanking tell me more if yk) aaaaanyway ~-> Resharing tos?? <-~ Kay, so we all know the deal on Resharing by now right? I think its gone way too far. the other day i didn't notice i wasn't on my alt, but my main, and was unsharing a preview of my latest game. i accidentally unshared the actual one and realized 1 day later, and reshared with an explanation. in return i got over a dozen hate/report comments and people saying i was game hungry >:/ A few days later, i quite literally got HACKED and my game was permanently deleted from my account :0 and people accused me of lying so i could reshare??!! I think people have become way too sensitive about resharing (EVEN ON ACCIDENT WTH) after the whole 4 projects on trending stuff, but here's the thing. We can't stop resharing from happening. And we most certainly don't want more hate. Possible solution? A terms of service sort thing. I think that as long as it doesn't go overboard like... you know, we should let it be okay. feel free to add more limitations and stuff but this is what i think should be ok :P - at least 1000+ blocks (or if animation, 100+ frames?) people might think this is too much, but trending is meant for complex and code-packed (or frame packed) projects, not fillers and stuff. every single one of my projects that got trending had at least 1000+ blocks so this seems fair. - only resharing for updates. nowadays people get mad when you reshare for updates, saying 'you can edit while its shared' but its really inconvenient for the creators. i've tried this before and trust me, it sucks. when i tried to make updates live, i got tons of angry comments from people asking why broken projects were on trending and why the game sucked, and honestly, if its a big update, maybe 200+ blocks added, it should probably be unshared for updates :/ - you shouldn't reshare more than 1-2 times a week, especially not if its already on 1st page trending, NOT COUNTING ST RESHARES! - don't spam UNRELATED tags, its unfair to people who actually made content in the categories that you snuck into >:0 i feel if people follow some kind of terms like this, we shouldn't have that much of an issue. Either way, I just hope the hate, and unhappiness on scratch dies down, honestly guys this is a kid's coding website, and if you put in this much effort to annoy people, just touch some grass >:] if you see hate, mass reporting, unkindness, anywhere on the site, instead of saying stuff to aggravate it, just comment #stopthehate. that has been a rant from starryorange :) tell me what you think about these issues, i'm happy to hear
