Juliett was thankfully not dressed as a grain. Instead she wore an intricate garment with beautiful deep red layers made to resemble a rose. Bronze jewelry that matched the color of her eyes, caught the light and sent it dancing off of her. She was more than pleased with the outfit. It felt so soft, and looked wonderful. Hidden beneath the folds was a small pouch that was filled with grain. It was a joke Juliett had convinced the stylist to partake in. She could already see herself throwing it above her head in sarcastic revelry. She laughed at the thought and got up, led by her enthusiastic stylists to a cold looking door. She took a deep breath, unsure what to expect. Admittedly she was a bit nervous, but was hiding it well. Juliett put on a bright smile as the doors clunked open. Other cats from her district were near by and she attempted to give them a respectful nod as she entered. Before her was a white X which she strode over to, watching quietly as the other tributes did the same. This wasn’t a parade, she thought when the red curtain before her peeled away, revealing a crowd of Capital cats, and flashing lights. She was separated from them by a crystal clear glass pane. Juliett smirked, her most commonly used expression, so this was what the parade had become. A simple display. She waved to the viewers, ignoring the other tributes around her. Juliett spun, letting the flower-like folds ruffle, her jewelry throwing sparkles at the wall. Then, barely pausing after her spin she flipped. It was something she was familiar with. She’d been doing acrobatics since she was young. Juliett landed expertly and smiled, bowing dramatically. Her outfit had been purposely made for easy maneuvering. The cats outside reacted well to it. She twisted, throwing the grain above her head and letting it scatter on the ground, laughing as she did so. The red and white tribute flipped agin, this time executing a more complicated and challenging action. She flipped forward and backwards, performing each move with precision and grace. The eyes of the Capital observers seemed to bore into Juliett. She paused, taking a deep breath and smirking at the cats on the other side as she dispersed more grain. Then it was time for the final part of her plan. Juliett charged at the glass, eliciting a few startled looks, which she did her best to ignore. She leaped up, her paws slamming with a thud against the pane. She propelled herself through the air with a twist. Turning fully in the air, the rose fabric swirled around her body. A look of triumphant determination was painted on her face when she landed almost exactly on the white X where she’d begun. Throwing her hair out of her face as she regained her bearings, Juliett showered herself with the remaining grain from the pouch, and bowed. Hopefully the Capital found her joke as ironic as she did. Looking back up the graceful tribute smiled. Thank goodness that was over, she thought as her district’s turn in the spotlight came to a satisfying end.
