The satisfying crunch of leaves echoed below me as I ran through the forest. I sucked in the crisp fall air as I sprinted towards my destination. "Almost there!" I thought happily, and put on a burst of speed. I gripped my bow so hard my knuckles turned white, nervous for the tense conversation that was sure to happen. Finally, I made it to the clearing, and just as I had predicted, he was there, staring into the valley below. "Hey." I whispered so quietly you could barely hear. But of course he did. He turned around, and shot me an icy glare. I inhaled deeply, and continued. "I know you're mad at me, but I won't change my opinion, so you're going to have to learn to like it!" I finished angrily. "Well, I don't." He said cooly, his face devoid of emotion. My cheeks turned red at this, angry and embarrassed. As I turned to walk away, he started humming. I couldn't recognize what it was, at first, but the more I listened, the more I felt like I had heard it. And then the name appeared in my mind. It was 'The Hanging Tree', the song we used to spend hours analyzing. Those had been some of the happiest times of my life. Orphaned and alone, like me, Atlas had become a person I could confide in, trust in. Before I knew it, I was humming along as well, and when we sang the last note, he turned to me, and all I could say was, "Want to go hunting?" ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ So, this was inspired by the Hunger Games, but I did it all except for the cover, which I did on Picsart.
