Drift // Female// Martial Eagle// 5 years // A dark brown eagle with a white underbelly covered in small black spots, with piercing yellow eyes, and a gray beak.// Savannahs // Quiet, shy // --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Martial eagles are an endangered species of eagle that lives in southern Africa. Sadly, many farmers shoot these eagles in fear that they will kill their livestock (which sometimes happens, but rarely). With a wingspan of about 6-8 feet long, they are able to break a human's arm with one foot and knock a man off their feet. Martial eagles are the largest eagles in Africa and prey on mammals, birds, and reptiles. Some of these animals are small antelopes, monkeys, young goats, lambs, lizards, snakes, jackles, and cats. They form monogamous pairs, meaning they stay together for life. Martials make their nests 20-66 feet off the ground in large trees. They usually lay 1 egg every 2 years. The young stay with their parents for about 8-12 months and reach reproductive maturity at 4-5 years. They are avian apexes and are on the top of the food chain where they live. The local name of martial eagles in south Africa is lammervanger, meaning "lamb catcher", and are sometimes nicknamed "the leopards of the air" due to their spotted underside. The construction of their nests can take several months.
I know these are like 5+ year old martials but I couldn't find what a 2 year old martial eagle looks like so i'm changing my bio to 5 years instead of 2 Images not mine, most of the information from https://animalia.bio/martial-eagle :)
