Another very important rant I have seen WAY too many studios and projects talking about or discussing politics, and I am here to try and stop that. Why? Because this isn’t Twitter. This isn’t Facebook. This isn’t YouTube. This is Scratch, a site for kids 8 and older to create fun projects. And 8-year-olds don’t need all that drama and nonsense. Heck, most of the people making stuff like this aren’t even old enough themselves to be involved in all this stuff anyways. So please just stop. These aren’t things that kids this young need to know right now. Especially since political topics are extremely controversial and only lead to arguments. Scratch needs less toxicity, not more of it. Please stop all this and just make things that people on Scratch actually needs. Arguing about politics just divides us more, which is not okay. Scratch is supposed to be fun, not stressful. And before someone tries to argue that me making projects defending the LGBTQ+ is being political, no it is not. There is a HUGE difference between talking about topics with political ties, and talking about actual political topics. All media has some sort of connection to politics. That cannot be avoided. But there is a difference between talking about homophobia problems around the world, and talking about political figures and whether we think they are/were good or not. Also, I’m not trying to say that we should all just ignore difficult topics and discussions like this completely. That is not good either. But there is a time and place for them, and Scratch is not it.
