Warriors: A Fan-Based Series Book 1: Snowballing Troubles Chapter 5 (Part 2) Snowball froze in shock. Crowkit was missing? Like Cindertail the last time? He stood rooted to the spot, jaw dropped. When he came to, Flowerheart was making her way to Doveflight. “Doveflight, what do you mean Crowkit’s missing? When did you last see him?” “I was just looking after my kits and I went out for a short walk. When I went back, Crowkit was just missing!” the distressed queen wailed. Snowball saw Speckledfur running to Doveflight and giving her poppy seeds. However, Doveflight still could not calm down. Speckledfur eventually managed to calm her down and led her back to the nursery to take care of Peachkit, her other kit. By then, Foxtail and Blossompaw had come back from hunting, ready to go to the Gathering with most of the other warriors. Blossompaw’s excited gaze turned to confusion when she saw Doveflight, but did not ask any questions. Rainstar sighed and leaped onto the Highledge. “Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather at the Highledge for a clan meeting!” Snowball found Flowerheart and sat next to her and Foxtail. Rainstar sat on the Highledge, looking around to see if all the StormClan cats were there. She settled down, and spoke, “Cats of StormClan! Doveflight’s kit, Crowkit, has just gone missing.” There were murmurs among the group of cats seated. “What do you mean? Is our Clan not safe anymore?” A cat yowled at Rainstar. Snowball knew her as Icefrost, an icy blue she-cat who was good at battle fighting and she was mentoring Brownpaw. Cats around her, after hearing what she said, meowed in agreement. Rainstar flicked her tail and silenced all the cats. “Crowkit is missing,” she repeated, “but that does not necessarily mean that we are in danger.” The StormClan leader spoke calmly and firmly, but Snowball saw a flash of anxiousness in her eyes. Some cats grumbled but then stayed silent, waiting for Rainstar to continue speaking if she had anything to say. “The Clan is dismissed,” Rainstar said after a moment’s thought. She leaped down from the Highledge, heading to her den with Bloodclaw. Snowball watched as the last of her disappear into her den. He then turned and walked towards the fresh-kill pile. I will need my energy levels up for the journey to the Gathering later, so I’d better eat more, he thought. Snowball picked up a plump vole from the pile before carrying it to the warriors’ den to eat it. “Ready for the journey, Snowball?” Flowerheart said as he walked into the den. He dropped the vole onto the ground, then looked at Flowerheart. “Yes, but first I’ve got to eat this. Hunting in the mornings is exhausting!” He said, plopping down in front of his vole next to his best friend. Flowerheart laughed. “Then you better hurry, it is almost sun-down.” Snowball grinned and wolfed down the vole. The vole tasted delicious, and he felt full of energy to go to the Gathering.
