The Barnsley Fern is a piece of artwork created by transformations of x and y coordinates and probability. First, the x and y coordinates are reset to 0. Then, four transformations are applied to them with each of them being applied at different probabilities: 1% -> next x = 0; next y = current y * 0.16 7% -> next x = (current x * 0.2) - (current y * 0.26); next y = (current x * 0.23) + (current y * 0.22) + 1.6 7% -> next x = (current x * -0.15) + (current y * 0.28); next y = (current x * 0.26) + (current y * 0.24) + 0.44 85% -> next x = (current x * 0.85) + (current y * 0.04); next y = (current x * -0.04) + (current y * 0.85) + 1.6 With these transformations applied thousands of times, every point that documents each past x and y coordinates calculated forms a unique shape, named The Barnsley Fern.
