My first update with Buzz! I got a new horse (the chestnut) from @thatprettypalomino yesterday and he seems to be settling in nicely. Once he stepped off the trailer he ran around for a bit and was very confused as to where he was. Soon, though, he dropped his head and relaxed and began to graze. However, every time he heard a noise his head shot up and he shifted into high-alert mode, though it's not surprising since he has a completely new environment to adjust to. After about an hour I introduced him to my gelding, Buck, who's one of the most laid-back horses I own. He's also very well-mannered so Buzz will learn a lot from watching him. To introduce the two, I held Buck outside of the fence for a while to let them get used to each other's presence. Buzz seemed a little hesitant around Buck at first, but Buck's peaceful demeanor eventually led Buzz to relax as well. They've now been just grazing and enjoying each other's company for the past few hours. I plan to start training Buzz in ground manners and basic skills such as picking up his hooves, standing calmly while tied, and getting used to my (and other humans') presence. Here's Buzz's info: Show name: Blazing Boots Barn name: Buzz Breed: purebred AQHA (American Quarter Horse) Gender: colt Age: 2 years Color: chestnut Birthplace: Blue Mountain Ranch Sire: Blazing Rails "Blaze" (owned by @thatprettypalomino) Dam: Bays in Boots "Cowgirl" (owned by @thatprettypalomio) Breeder: @thatprettypalomino Training level: halter trained only
