The Bloxels Movie - Movie Idea --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a movie I thought of while playing Bloxels! To the left is a teaser poster I made. I might add more details and make a better poster, but I think this is a good starting point. Below, there is more information on the movie! For those who don't know, Bloxels is a subscription program which has you making your own games! (Platformer or Top-Down RPG!) When you're ready, you can share them with the world so others can try your game! Wanna try it? Go to: play.bloxels.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYNOPSIS: As kids, the Blockowski siblings Thomas (Charlie Day) and Olivia (Anika Noni Rose) loved playing video games. Nowadays however, Thomas is trying to track the hottest news down for the city's newspaper while Olivia works as a page at her local library. After not seeing each other for over 15 years, Thomas invites Olivia over to his house for a reunion. While watching a movie, Thomas' children interrupt to show him their newest Bloxels game. Thomas taps the Play button to hopefully get this over with quickly, but Olivia and him get sucked into the iPad. They end up in the Blox-verse where they meet Ugly Sweater Kitty (Tom Kenny) and begin an adventure to return back to Earth. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things of Note: FAKE Release Date: December 2024 Run-Time: 2 hours and 10 minutes (excluding credits) Rated PG for: Very little profanity and cartoon violence Company Produced by: Illumination Entertainment Genres: Animation, Action, Comedy, Fantasy --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRODUCTION: Development: In 2017, after teaming up with Disney to produce the Star Wars-themed Bloxels kit, Rob Bennet and Robin Rath from Pixel Press proposed an animated movie centered around Bloxels, Pixel Press' "game-making" product. The idea was rejected, as Disney stated that "one movie about video games was enough." (Disney was referring to the Wreck-It Ralph franchise, which at the time only had one movie released.) Determined to make the movie into reality, Rob Bennet, Robin Rath, and the rest of the crew at Pixel Press pitched the idea to other studios in hopes that one would accept. In April of 2018, the idea was approved after being proposed to Universal Studios. The film was announced later that same month and was to be produced by Universal's Illumination department. Writing: Rob Bennet and James Macanufo wrote the story for the film. Bennet stated that the reason for James Macanufo instead of Rath was due to Macanufo being the Creative Director of Pixel Press and Bennet believing that he shouldn't "let his creative ideas go to waste." Bennet stated that he originally "had no idea where to begin." According to Macanufo, he "started scribbling ideas on a piece of paper and the one with Ugly Sweater Kitty intrigued Rob."
