I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. Scratch is kinda meh nowadays. Like, it was cool way back when the color scheme didn't hurt my eyes and the blocks looked semi-3D, but that was way back in like... 2016. Now that it's 2023 and kids are either saying that being obscenely rude on the internet is cool or that the lgbtq+ community is cringe, it's gotten worse. Basically, all this toxicity is showing on the platform itself. And rather than do something about it, the scratch team seems to be taking it with a grain of salt. Here are some examples. False reporters? Yeah, they report a project randomly to get it taken down. That's more of a problem with the system rather than the FR themselves. Instead of reviewing the project BEFORE taking it down, ST takes it down THEN reviews it. And if it's completely clean, the FR gets no backlash whatsoever. Anti-Groups? Pfft, I could come up with a list of reasons they're ruining the platform. First off, we got the studios. Whole cluster-growths of degeneracy at its finest riddled throughout Scratch. They're like cancerous nodes that slowly drain the life out of the website. Not to mention, these tend to stay up longer than seemingly innocent studios. Secondly, harassment. Get this. They literally go to peoples' profiles just to smack-talk them. This mostly happens with furries and lgbtq+ people, but it can be pretty much anyone that gets targeted. Truth is, people are gonna try and find a reason to hate you no matter what you do. The people that don't are fairly sane. Lastly, the fact that more often than not, ST comes down on the wrong person in the situation. Simple aggravated backlash can really mess you up. Advertisers aren't too bad. Same for F4Fers. They really just wanna get going with their Scratch legacy, but the algorithm is kinda going against them. Anyway, I know there are a ton of people that this platform would do better without, but in reality, I have literally no control over such matters. I'm just a young adult about to go into the real world very soon. Even this project seems silly, now that I think about it. Most of you are probably 10-13 years old and are just nodding along with what I'm saying, but not really understanding any of it. Which is why I think it's my time. Relax, though. I'm still gonna get some stuff done, but after that, it's adios. You'll still be able to find me on other platforms (YT and Cordy-Cord), and I'll make sure to make those known. Now if I may be excused, I must ponder whether or not I will go through with this.
