~*Never Forget You*~ In Memory Of Princess, My Beautiful Girl <3 The Story of Princess: I began riding Princess when another girl started riding lessons at the same time I did, so I couldn't ride Spirit anymore. The first time I saw her, I was intimidated by her, as she was stamping and pawing at the ground, pinning her ears and tossing her head. But as soon as I got her brushed and tacked up, she transformed into a totally different horse. She stood quietly while I mounted her, and had a long, floaty, delicate trot that covered ground. I only had to give her the slightest of squeezes to get her to move, and she behaved like an angel. When I dismounted her, she became feisty girl once again, although she so very gently took the carrot from my hand. Princess was my "first" horse. My first time using a bit was on her. My first canter. My first jump. My first double-posting. On, and on the list goes. One particularly memorable experience with her is when I was brushing her, she pinned her ears and lashed out a hind leg in a cow-kick. To this day, I still don't know if she was kicking at me, or if she was kicking at an annoying fly. Another memory is my first canter. I was so nervous, and I asked her to canter. It took a few tries, but then she launched into a beautiful, collected, flowing canter, and it was amazing. I remember when I pulled her back down to a walk, her throatlatch on the bridle had come loose, and I had to dismount to fix it. Then, what happened to Princess? She didn't pass. It turned out, her owners had given permission for her to be used as a lesson horse, as they never came to see her, never cared for her, so my riding instructor did that. Out of the blue, after who-knows-how-long with no contact to my riding instructor, they suddenly demanded her back, so Princess returned to their farm/got boarded at another place. And I never got to say goodbye to my feisty girl. </3 Princess, I'll never forget you, and I hope you're having an amazing life. Wherever you are. <333
