commentary (as of 2025): the first ever project i posted on BurntArchive and one of the main 3 projects of the "main focus" era (this is what i mean by main focus era: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/675180977/). deathmatch was pretty ambitious, maybe not as ambitious as the other 2 projects but still a large undertaking for little old me in 3 years ago. it originally started as a sort of tech demo-y test thing (the usual stuff i did) that was very very inspired by all my favorite hero shooters at the time (mainly apex as me and @The_Permeator were playing a good bit of it at the time). I actually had @The_Permeator voice some lines for a character named "insight" and i was voicing a character named "fractal" (if i do find those voicelines ill try posting those in a separate project). insight was a trickster sort of character that could phase through walls and fractal put down "void links" that he could teleport back to from what i remember. but clearly that wasnt what i ended up focusing on so what happened? i think i was falling out of the hero shooter gimmick and changed it up to be more of a titanfall type thing? i remember playing a lot of titanfall 2 and get to the orange door when this change ultimately happened. i got so caught up in changing the game though that the original vision was lost and i ended up missing the old concept and tried to return to it at some point. if you want to check out some of the other unfinished stuff inside this project there are two other weapons i actually made for this. if you go into the player arms sprite and click on one of the two stray block clusters in there it will change your weapon. but yeah i put a ton of time into this one too.
