I've literally been staring at the clock, waiting for it to become 12:00am lol I posted this at midnight in the EST so I swear it's June over here right now /lh So as most people know, June is pride month. But little do most people know, but June is also vitiligo awareness month! I am a person with vitiligo and just discovered we have an awareness month three hours ago /lh Pronunciation: vit-uh-lie-go definition (IS EDUCATION TIME WHOOOOH): vitiligo is an uncommon autoimmune disease that affects 1 to 2% of the human population. This specific disease is genetic and only starts appearing between the ages of 10-30. An autoimmune disease is where the body accidentally mistakes healthy cells for bacteria and will kill off healthy cells by mistake. This specific autoimmune disease affects skin cells. When healthy skin cells are killed off, the skin will lose its pigmentation and turn white, resulting in patches of white skin. These patches of white skin are very vulnerable to sunburn and if developed in the ear or around the eyes, the person/being with vitiligo will possibly lose their hearing and vision. (If you want to learn more about vitiligo pleaaaaaaase ask me. I know so much about vitiligo, I find diseases so interesting to learn about :00) Fun fact they don't teach you about vitiligo: The patches of white skin are actually softer than normal skin. If you are reading this and you have vitiligo, please talk to me. Please. There are only three other people in my high school and it's so lonely. They think I'm too annoying /lh /nf Anyways, enjoy your pride/vitiligo awareness month- OH WAIT- THE GRAY CAT. That's Junco!! :3 Pronunciation: June-co Literally my baby, I made her a couple of months ago as a comfort character and I love her so much <333 If you remix this with art of Junco(with effort and is actually your art), I will literally draw two fullbodies of whatever of your characters you want me to. I LOVE her. So so much <333 hehe EDIT: I forgot to mention when you have vitiligo under hair such as head hair, eyelashes, and leg hair, the vitiligo will turn that specific hair white. I've wanted a white spot on my head for a while just so I could have a white streak of hair and look snazzy /lh Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet haha
