Pingu's a stop-motion children's comedy TV series by Otmar Gutmann, originally made from 1986 to 2000 in Switzerland by Trickfilmstudio and The Pygos Group. A penguin family lives in the South Pole, including Pingu, the son and titular character. It ran for 4 series of multiple seasons from 28 May 1986 to 9 April 2000 on SF DRS in Switzerland, or BBC 1 (1991-2012), BBC 2 (2003-2006), CBBC (1991-2002) and CBeebies (2002-2015) in the UK, winning a BAFTA award. The 5th and 6th series were made by British companies HIT Entertainment and Hot Animation. It has a cult following, with YouTube Poops and MLG (Major League Gaming) examples.
