17 years ago today, on June 9, 2006, Disney and Pixar’s Cars was released in theaters in the US. Press the green flag to see a slideshow of stills from the movie. Cars has been my favorite movie since I was a young kid. Upon watching it for the first time, I fell in love with Lightning McQueen, Mater, and all of the characters. I have a HUGE collection of die-cast cars. I also saw Cars 2 and Cars 3 in theaters when they came out, and have gone to Cars Land at DCA many times. More recently, I have started to appreciate the emotional storyline of Cars a lot more. The film is very special to me, which is why I decided to make this tribute honoring its 17th anniversary. (Which is also fitting because 17 is my favorite number)
