[ALL SPOTS HAVE BEEN DECIDED AND OFFERED] it's up to them to accept now :) ⋆ Garnet Gardens: @jalapeno9 & @Pun-derful ⋆ Sapphire Shores: @mystic_luna_eclipse ⋆ Emerald Emporium: @C_Yee ⋆ Topaz Towers: @-_Flower-_Petals-_ Hello and welcome to the Leader Applications for the October 2023 (first!) session of Camp Astrophilia! ☆ Space, arrows or tap to advance ☆ Applying for leader If you would like to be a leader, then you are in the right place! If you would prefer to join as a camper instead, you can sign up here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/864978310/ ☆ FAQ - What is Camp Astrophilia? CA, or Camp Astrophilia, is a (bi)annual online camp that runs through the month of October (and maybe April, but it depends). You can set goals for yourself at the beginning when you sign up, and try to reach them by the end of camp, which is the end of the month. There are 4 cabins (subject to change every session), and you'll be placed in one of them. There's also a competitive aspect between the cabins, winning by working together with your cabinmates and leaders to get as many stars as possible through different engaging activities. - What does CA stand for? CA stands for Camp Astrophilia! Astrophilia means love of and/or obsession with planets, stars, and outer space. - How is CA different from other Scratch camps? Most other camps are focused on a specific aspect, like writing, art, photography, and more. In CA, you're free to set a goal for anything, as long as it's allowed by the hosts and doesn't violate the Community Guidelines. CA also encourages learning more about yourself and discovering parts of you that you haven't yet explored yet, as well as to see things from different aspects. There's more, you'll find out as camp starts! - What are the cabins? We have a different overall cabin theme every session. For instance, this October 2023 session will have jewel-themed cabins, but the next session will have something different. Here are the four cabins this session: ⋆ Garnet Gardens ⋆ Sapphire Shores ⋆ Emerald Emporium ⋆ Topaz Towers - How do I apply? Answer the questions listed in the project in the comments below. Of course, you're totally welcome to make a project app as well if you would like ^^ The deadline is the 31st of July, for those who want to add to their SWC word count <3 - How many cos can I have? Well, we don't have cos! Confused? It's because we're removing the gap separating leaders and co-leaders. We will most likely have 2 leaders per cabin unless there's really not enough apps, which means we'll probably accept 6 leaders since Coral and I are leading as well (fyi, we're not going to lead the same cabin. That would only lead to chaos.) - Can I choose who to lead with? Since we don't have a co system and all cabins will have 2 leaders, no. This prevents choosing cos based on already formed friendships, creating bias, and encourages meeting new people. [edit: we might not get enough apps for each cabin to have 2 leaders so well-] - What are the responsibilities of a leader? As a leader, you will have to: ⋆ Update you cabin's word/minute counts regularly and consistently ⋆ Get involved and contribute to cabin planning, especially since we've removed the boundary between leads and co-leads, discuss among yourselves actively. ⋆ Maintain balance among personal life and CA, and encourage campers to do the same. Please do not, and do not ever give up sleep or your other tasks just because of CA. ⋆ Encourage campers and don't put pressure on them! - When will results be announced? Selected leaders will be notified by August 2nd, and you will have to wait 10 hours to accept the offer. - Why are you posting this so early? And why is almost everything one month early? Well, firstly because it usually gets busy with schoolwork around September, it would be better to finish more of the planning in the summer. Also for people joining SWC or any other writing camp in July, they will get to add words from their applications to their word count :) I'm sure there's more to it that I didn't cover here, you can ask in the info studio if you still have a question! - (I definitely missed something... Just have to find out what it is) ☆ Credits - SWC and other Scratch camps for the inspiration - Luna for hosting this session and Coral for co-hosting this session - Luna (me) made the slides on Canva - Music used is Waterfall by RomanSenykMusic - You for being interested in leading/joining this session!
