The South African Railways Class GMA 4-8-2+2-8-4 of 1954 is an articulated steam locomotive. Between 1954 and 1958, the South African Railways placed 120 Class GMA Garratt articulated steam locomotives with a 4-8-2+2-8-4 Double Mountain type wheel arrangement in service. All the locomotives could be configured as either a Class GMA branch line or a Class GMAM mainline engine. designed in 947 as part of ECGR's post-war rebuilding plan (which lasted from 946 to 954 and was followed by the descision to dieselize and electrify a number of lines) a total of 132 were built from 948 to 953 mostly for the secondary lines between Riprapoit and Preatan which required powerful yet light locomotives they were retired starting in 987 and the last member of the class was retired and subsiquently sold in 991 to a colliery made using bits of code Kingsmoosh33's bartland and haggs garratt based directly on the SAR GMA and GMAM
