Chapter 1: You're on it! Chapter 2: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/865760403/ The girl turned to stare at the vast expanse of snowy land around her. Where was she? Winters weren’t normally this harsh in North Carolina, were they? A strong gust of wind rushed through her, blowing her hair in all directions, so strong in fact, that it sent her tumbling backwards into a pile of soft, powdery snow. Surprised, she let out a shriek, and that was all that was able to escape through her lips before she was swallowed by the mouth of an old cave, where she was sheltered from the biting, cold winds. She grazed her knee upon the rough landing, tearing a hole in her wool leggings. She carefully checked the wound and was thankful that it wasn’t anything serious. She let out a relieved sigh and sank back down into the soft snow that’d cushioned most of her landing. Maybe this was all just some weird fever dream? Yeah, maybe if she closed her eyes and wished really hard, she’d wake up, back in her bed, safe and sound. She peeked one eye open. Nope. Still in a cold dark cave, alone. Or so she thought. She could suddenly feel the cold pressure of someone’s sharp stern icy gaze on her back. She turned around so that she could have a full view of the space she was enclosed in. The girl could see that she was in a small space that could hold room for no more than one person. She looked up to see the small hole she’d somehow fallen through. It was a long way up, and the walls were much too soft to climb up. There was no way she could get out the same way she came in. She checked for any other exits and found a few incredibly narrow tunnels that would require crawling to get through and lead to God knows where. She wasn’t going anywhere any time soon. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see the silhouette of a tall slender figure. And a pair of piercing, eerily cold, frosty eyes that sent chills down her spine. “H-hello?” She called out, hopeful that someone was actually there, and not just the shadows playing tricks on her mind. Well, it might as well have been the wind since the figure and eyes soon dissipated into nothing but a flurry of flakes. Leaving her alone with the shadows. “W-wait! I w-won’t hurt you! Please! Come back! I need h-help…” She called out, pleading, her teeth chattering from the cold, her lips as blue as an ocean while she whispered her last plea, before everything went dark.
Her eyes fluttered open, unsure of her surroundings but thankful that the dreaded cold was replaced by warmth, and a quilt being loosely wrapped around her shoulders. She could also hear a fire crackling somewhere in the distance. Her eyes fluttered closed again, she swore it'd only felt like seconds but the next time she stirred back into semi-consciousness she was being force fed spoonful's of some warm liquid down her sore throat. It felt good, and warm, but was hard to swallow. She voiced that much through an incomprehensible mumble trying to push away the spoon making its way towards her mouth. She expected it to go away, but it only started shaking, dropping a couple lone droplets off the edge, as if the person who was holding it was trembling. "No..no, no, no. You need to keep your strength up. You don't understand right now…need to eat…Ple–ase…" The voice choked back what sounded like a sob, " …can't repeat…same mistake twice…can't let you suffer…same fate…he did…" The voice was barely over a whisper now. Somewhere in her heart, she felt a pang of guilt for troubling the poor voice who was caring for her. She didn't know or understand much of what it was saying, but still felt bad. She reached out to reassure whoever was talking to her, her eyes still groggy and full of sleep. She grazed the tip of someone's face and immediately flinched, and recoiled back into the warmth and security of her blanket. The voice sucked in a sharp breath, and this time, she was determined to calm the voice down. She reached out once again into the pool of darkness, towards the voice's shallow uneven breathing, while still keeping her eyes closed, this time she felt something soft. A soft tuft of wavy hair, she gave a small pat as a showcase of her gratitude and was satisfied when she heard a small breath of release, it was the closest thing she'd get to a laugh in this state anyways. She soon found sleep lulling her into its presence once more, and allowed herself to drift off. How many times she'd wavered between consciousness and unconsciousness? She had absolutely no clue, but what she did know was that the presence of the voice was always accompanying her whenever she did. And there's chapter 1!! What do you think will happen to the girl? Who do you think is the mysterious voice? Where did the girl end up? Let me know in the comments! Stay tuned to find out!
