Chapter 2: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/865760403/ Chapter 3: You're on it! Chapter 4: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/881662667/ The boy looked down at her through his whiter than snow fringe and frowned with his eerily piercing blue eyes. Ember immediately froze. She felt awfully conscious under his calculating glare, and began fidgeting with one of the loose buttons of her torn and well worn coat, averting her gaze and lowering her head bashfully. The boy looked away from her uninterested and unimpressed, instead pointing his question directly towards Aeverie. “What’s she doing here?” Ember blinked confused while Aeverie chirped brighter than ever, “Well! You see our guest, Ms. Ember and I were about to head out to ask Mr. Claus how to get her home, but Aeverie ask if she’d like to see the factory first and she say yes!” She happily explained. The boy didn’t look amused. “She’s not our guest, Aeverie. For the heir of the high elf counsel you're not as bright as they make you out to be, and I don’t mean personality wise. You're blinding in that sense.” He sneered. Was this really who’d saved her from the storm? Ember wondered. He seems kinda mean. She observed. “Why thank you young mister!” Aeverie chittered, only adding to the boy’s current mood. “That wasn't supposed to be a compliment,” He grumbled. “Considering the young mister’s usual mood, Aeverie concludes that this is closest thing she will ever achieve to flattery from the devisee of Santa's legacy!” Ember could never understand how some people- beings, could be so happy. By the looks of it, neither could the blue eyed boy as he stared at Aeverie with a look of both shock, annoyance, and disdain, (a little more pessimistic than Ember saw it, but regardless). She made to move out of the middle of the conversation since she didn’t want to be intrusive and could tell her presence bothered the boy. Unfortunately when making her way out she accidentally tripped and almost plummeted face first before a firm hand grabbed her by her hood, she let out a grunt of displeasure as the lining of her coat dug into her neckline.
“Gentle-” Aeverie began to chide before being rudely interrupted. “Don’t patronize me Aeverie, you’re in no place to talk. She is not welcome here and clearly not fully healed either. Look at the way she’s been limping, feeble girl can’t even stand anymore.” He pointed out as he pulled Ember back upright. Ember would have thought to be offended at his rude comments and his tone… But as much as she loathed to admit it, his words did contain some truth. She was exhausted, her leg did ache, but she wasn’t weak nor ‘feeble’ as he’d put it. She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. “I was just taking my leave.” She announced, pushing herself off from him briskly. She could find Santa on her own, she wouldn’t by any means want to overstay her welcome. She started making her way down the hall opposite to the clinking and clanking of the toy factory, steadying herself against the wall for support. She held out a hand to signal the boy to stop as he was about to advance towards her. “Don’t need help-” She breathed out heavily, she’d already caused enough trouble, she wouldn’t allow him to help her again. “I wasn’t going to.” He said, arms crossed and a small frown resting on his face. Ember turned, a perplexed look fixated on her own, “Huh?” “You’re going the wrong way” He muttered brushing past her, “His workshop’s this way” “Oh.” Ember could feel her cheeks burning, her face was probably red too. She was thankful that the boy couldn't see her flustered appearance as he had already begun walking in the direction he'd nodded off too. Although she struggled a bit to keep up with his long strides, she eventually caught up to the last corridor where he stood with his arms crossed and a scowl painted on his face. Whew, there's chapter 3! Will Ember finally meet Santa? Will she be ok? What's going to happen to her? Let me know in the comments! Stay tuned to find out!
