The waves crash into the beach, swishing over the sand, before whisking away again. It’s an eternal pattern, continuing forever. I smile and look away. It’s beautiful, but I can’t focus. Seagulls are flapping about, squawking and covering every inch of the surface with their bird poop. I wrinkle my nose, yet pity creeps into my mind. They will never know what they could have been. They think that their life is normal, although I have the freedoms of an intelligent brain and more opportunities. The beach is cool, but it still gives me the feeling of sadness. Some of the beaches in the world have pure white sand, crystal clear water, and people lounging around in warm sunlight, desperate to get a tan. But this one has a clouded sky, murky water, and a beach littered with trash and seaweed. Because no one thinks it’s pretty enough to be cared for. That’s everything in life. I hope it ends, but it could simply go on as an everlasting pattern.
