[Saturday] I woke up as I heard my alarm ring. Thing is, it was a Saturday. I had forgotten to turn my alarm off. It was 7 am, 'Oh well' I thought, 'I guess waking up a couple hours earlier would be fine'. I turned the alarm off and got out of my pajamas. Marc was also woken up by my alarm. Oh yeah and by the way, Marc is a sea urchin, I sort of just found him and decided to keep him as my pet. I put my hat on and wasn't very surprised by the fact my dad and brother were already awake. Both of them are sailors and they go fishing, then they sell that fish and whatever else they caught. "Good morning Pier! There's already food on the table." My dad said as he went out the door, I didn't have much time to answer. "Why are you up so early?" My brother asked. "I forgot to turn my alarm off, and I was too awake to go to sleep again." I replied. My brother chuckled as he drank his coffee. I got a plate and got some bacon and eggs. "Why is dad leaving so early?" I asked, he usually went out at 7:30, it was only 7:10. "Oh, he's just fixing up the boat. It rained a bit last night and he said he would get some of the water out." My brother replied, putting down his cup of coffee. I shrugged, come to think of it, there were some raindrops on my window when I woke up. I finished my breakfast, put on my boots and went out the door with my brother. I usually help him and my dad out with stuff. It was somewhat foggy but you could still see at least a couple meters in front of you so it wasn't that bad. The rain from last night made it a bit colder than normal but that was fine as well. My dad managed to get most of the water out of the boat already. It was a nice boat, I don't remember how much it cost but I know it was probably a lot of money. Talking about money, we don't have a lot of it. My dad came from a poor family, but despite this he still managed to take care of me and my brother by himself. Who knows where my mom went, I barely remember her. While my dad and brother were preparing their fishing poles, bait, getting the boat ready ect, I heard a small thud. Being the curious person I am, I decided to go in the direction of the thud. "Hello? Anybody there?" I asked, I could hear a couple very small footsteps. "Est-ce que quelqu'un est là?" I asked again, looking back, I have no idea why I decided to ask again in French. There was another small thud, something had just fallen off of a crate and onto the floor. I walked closer, it looked slimy. It was a fish. But it had legs. I gasped, the chances of seeing a fish with legs here is low, but certainly not zero. I picked up the fish, it wasn't as slimy as I thought it would be. "I'll call you, Monsieur Poisson!" I said as I walked back to where my dad and brother were. "Where were you Pier?" My dad asked. "I found a fish with legs!" I said holding out Monsieur Poisson in my hands. My dad came to look closer at M. Poisson, "You found a what?" My brother asked, walking closer to me. "I found a fish with legs," My brother gasped, "Do you know how rare those are?!" He asked. "Yep," I replied, trying to hold M. Poisson steadier so we could get a closer look at him. "Could we keep him, dad?" I asked, looking up at him. My dad smiled, "We can keep him, what'll we name him though?" "I already gave him a name, Monsieur Poisson!" I replied. And just so you know, walking fish don't need to live in water to survive. Though it's best to put them in water for a while so they don't dry out, they can live just fine out of water for quite a while. Me, my dad and my brother talked about M. Poisson for a while until my dad decided we should start to go fishing already. My dad said it would be best to keep M. Poisson at home so he wouldn't get lost, so I went back inside and put M. Poisson in the same tank as Marc, my sea urchin. Marc's pretty friendly so I could just put both of them in the same place without them fighting. I'm pretty sure that they like each other anyways. By the time I went back outside, my dad and my brother were in the boat and already preparing bait. I got my fishing pole and got on the boat. We caught quite a lot of fish and managed to sell a lot of them as well. Most of the time I was just thinking about M. Poisson. We got back from our fishing trip at around 12 pm, we had lunch and my dad and brother went to fish again. But I just stayed at home with Marc and Monsieur Poisson. I called my friend, Olivier, to tell him about M. Poisson. Needless to say, he was really interested. We talked until 2 pm, it was mostly about M. Poisson. I like Olivier, I really do, but I don't know if he likes me back, well, he likes me but not how I like him. It's.. complicated, but at least we're friends. When it was 2:30 I turned off my laptop since my dad and brother were already home. We sat at the table and had a long chat about what had happened today. We got a walking fish and managed to sell quite a lot of fish as well. It was a successful day if you ask me.
