tw // intense worry/other emotions If excitement was like a bubble, then Legendkit was a little kid, eagerly blowing the shiny objects into the air. He wasn't usually this upbeat, known for being a more docile, quiet-paced cat. The thinker, the little defender. Oh, but today the royal chocolate-and-cream kitten- or, was that even the proper word anymore?- had reached his goal. 6 moons old, something to be proud of. Truthfully, he hadn't done much to actually /earn/ it- all he had done was just... live. But today was different. Today was the day, the one he had been waiting for since he could walk. His apprenticeship. Legendkit, the six-moon-old soon-to-be-an-apprentice flounced outside of the den, spinningly happy over the exciting events. Oh, first the slightest stop- but who could blame him? The piebald tom peeked into a nearby nest, sapphire and emerald gems- or, more commonly referred to as his multicolored eyes- rounding, a soft smile displayed on his face, a purr rising out of him. Kittens. Whether found or born, they were a part of WindClan, and Legendkit felt a fierce rush of affection for them. Yes, he admitted he would miss the fluffy bundles of joy, but apprenticeship called him like the morning light. It was his time. Bathed in the pale, watery blue light of the nearby crystals, the chocolate-and-cream cat sauntered out, making his way over to the Gleamstone. Apparently, while he had been distracted, his brother Voyagekit and sister Meanderkit had slipped past him. There was a large group of cats huddled around the great blue crystal, their attention seemingly caught by something. Legendkit hurried up to them, the purr in his throat growing louder by the minute. Surely, these cats were gathered for their apprenticeship? Many kittens today, moving on to the privilege of apprenticeship. Voyagekit, his silly, happy, cinnamon roll of a brother. Meanderkit, his adventurous and strong-willed sister. Ditzykit, not his sister, but one at heart, so alike himself. Itsy-bitsykit, another platonic sister, a whirlwind of flair. Today was their day, today they would rule the dunes, the first day of the rest of their lives. Only... something was wrong. Legendkit didn't know how he could tell. A twitch of a tail. A nervous flick of an ear. What was going on? He hurried forward. Ghost's kittens were curled up outside of the entrance to her den, a deep, shadowy tunnel. They weren't much younger than him, a moon or two maybe, but today they looked so... small. Panic rose inside him, the bubbles catching in his throat, turning red and dark and casting shadows into his brain, filling him with these terrible feelings. Was Ghost alright? Was she injured, sick? Was she..? No. No, don't think about that. Ghost is a leader, tough as the crystal that she slept under. Legendkit nudged his father, sapphire and emerald eyes begging for an explanation. Bellflowercharm bent down ever so slightly, the whisper in his ear like a cold north wind. Ghost was missing. The bubbles of panic expanded, daring to choke him, filling him. He gasped aloud, desperate for air, relief. Who would lead the Clan? Shoalcry surely couldn't receive nine lives, for they didn't know if Ghost was... y'know.. Yet this wasn't the only thing, for something suddenly grasped Legendkit, threatening to sweep him off his feet. If Ghost was gone, and Shoalcry couldn't take over, did that mean that..? The bubbles, so merry and bright not even that long ago, popped. He couldn't become an apprentice. Of course, you and I both know he'll /eventually/ fulfill his dream, but Legendkit was trapped in the nightmarescape, not knowing any answers, afraid. Hundreds of emotions poured on him at once, and the chocolate-and-cream tom, no, /kitten/ was the correct word, sank to his knees, willing it to stop stop STOP !! It was like sitting under a waterfall, almost being crushed by the pressure, surrounded by all this /water/, with seemingly no escape. Legendkit tried not to let the bitterness fill him. It wasn't Ghost's fault. Shoalcry's. StarClan's. No, it was all him, all in his head, his dreams suddenly taunting him, laughing and pulling the thing he had wished for, wished for /moons/, out of his reach. He supposed... Legendkit sat down with a sigh, staring blankly at the Gleamstone, the light no longer welcoming, instead too bright, too vivid, too /much/. He closed his eyes, those tired sapphire and emerald jewels that had suddenly lost their shine, and laid his head on his fawn-colored paws. Oh, the disillusionment life caused. **** All the characters mentioned belong to their respective owners, Legendkit belongs to me ! Writing by your's truly~
