Pier is such a cute design that I just had to try for him! His backstory seems like it could be a happy or sad one, I don't really know yet. I can tell that it has something to do with his stuffed animals. Did he win them from a game at the pier? OR were they a gift? Thank you for the opportunity to show off my art in this contest! I took some inspiration for my drawing from the original in the lighting and shading of the hat. I loved how the brim of the hat had a streak lighting, so I decided it fit perfectly, especially for the thought of him by the sea. Oh! I loved doing the background! The colors were fun! I liked being able to use the watercolor brush for a lot of that. I was planning on using the brush "Nikko Rull", but I thought the look would be better for watercolor. The waves look better because of that in my opinion. I really wanted to describe more about how I made this drawing and Pier's design as a whole, and less on his backstory, which still is a bit of a mystery. I CAN tell that Pier is a humble character, who looks out for others.
I used Procreate to make this art! I put my whole process in the project. (The first sketch makes me cry... it's so bad.) This is like an hour and a half of work... I think. I don't know :) I really enjoyed drawing Pier and am excited that I get to enter! I love everything about him including his hat and leaf bow tie. The colors all complement each other and look beautifully together. I must compliment @-cafecat- on his colors! Oh my goodness! The specks on his fur add for detail. He is a really amazing design! At first I wasn't sure about him, back after drawing him, I actually really like him! You can really see the detail put into this character. I love all of the fluff in his fur, it reminds me of waves, which goes well with his character. (Sorry for all the writing, I just love his design :)) Thank you for considering me!
