If you haven't read the prologue - go read it! Otherwise this won't make as much sense haha (also if you couldn't already tell, i write things soo cliche) - enjoy~~ Chapter: 1 My vision blurred as I opened my eyes, and my surroundings were hazy with color, sound, and life. Why wasn't this what I had expected? My thoughts of pain and urgency I had just remembered thinking blurred into one curious thought as I sat up, and looked around. Where was I? I rubbed at my eyes, partially because this place I was in was blinding with a bright sun, and also because some strange thing was making my eyes water and sting horribly. The worst part was, I didn't know why. My heart was racing, I didn't know why. I didn't know what my name was, I didn't know why. My hands were covered in what looked like soot, and I couldn't tell you why. My heart ached with an odd sense of despair, and I didn't know why it felt like I had just landed from the sky in this strange place. I scanned my surroundings, sacrificing the burning of my eyes to look at where I was. I sat on a sidewalk, and busy people were walking past me, some younger, some older. Many were looking at me strangely. I stood up quickly, realizing that wherever I was, I was out of place with this new area - If it was new at all, I wasn't sure. I looked ahead, and beyond the sidewalk lay a wide beach of sand and running children. What looked like an ocean full of sparkling water lay beyond it. I started to walk along the sidewalk, knowing I had to keep up with the walking people, because I had already bumped into a few. A city was ahead, and I could see tall buildings with even more people there. I wasn't sure I wanted to go there, but I couldn't turn around in this crowd. For some reason, I was fascinated with all the tall buildings and interesting people. It was like I had never seen buildings like that before, even though my mind told me that I had. It was strange how every time my brain gave me random information, like telling me that the article of clothing everyone was wearing were called shorts, or that the buildings I was passing were law firms, or spas, it felt pained. It was almost like this excessive amount of information was forced somehow. Tired of all my walking, I stopped in front of a building I knew to be a coffee shop. Running through the people, I made it inside. The interior of the building was calm, and quiet unlike outside. There was a boy standing behind a counter that was filled with yummy-looking food. I didn't know why this place would only show you the food if you couldn't reach it. What I did know, was that the boy was wearing something over him called an apron. I also knew the word employee, although I wasn't sure what it had to do with him. "Excuse me, sir?" I asked. I had to know what was going on. Maybe he could help me? The boy looked up, who had brown shaggy hair and a kind face. I noticed his eyes were blue, but I'm not sure why that surprised me greatly. "Can I help you?" he asked, looking at me with an amused smile. I looked down at what I was wearing, and it turned out to be a long velvet green dress. Inwardly I cringed. Was that why people were looking at me strangely? And why was I wearing this thing? Why wasn't I wearing a shirt and shorts, like everyone else? I shook my head to clear my thoughts and get to the point. "Can you tell me where I am please?" The boy was silent for a moment, and then looked at me with a smile. "Are you serious?" I nodded. "Um... We're in Los Angeles - that's, Um, California." The boy ran his fingers through his hair, while I looked around. "Really? I think I've heard of that before." My mind kept nagging me, telling me it was familiar. "You're kidding, right?" Laughing, the boy shook his head and started to walk away. I knew I had to think of something fast, an excuse almost. I probably sounded like a crazy person. "I'm visiting this, Los Angeles," I said quickly, as the boy turned around, "it would be nice to know someone here if I could?" The boy gazed at me dubiously, pouring coffee into a mug. "Okay...?" "I'm... Well, I'm Mikka Coffee. I mean, Mikka," I stuttered, trying to find a temporary name. My eye caught on a coffee can with a brand name on it. I had to think quick, because no memory of my actual name came to my head. "Actually?" the boy inquired as he followed my eye. I nodded vigorously, not knowing what else I could say to him. "Well I'm Jax." I had never heard of a name like Jax or Mikka, but I smiled. "Nice to meet you." I was confused, that was for sure, but at least now I had somebody who could help me. I wasn't so lost anymore. Anyone interested in me writing a 2nd chapter??
