♫ Hello! Enjoy the art ♫ This leans into a story more than an artwork, but it's a creativity camp, right? This piece of art is inspired by the album Coyote Stories made by The Crane Wives. The character in the drawing is inspired by the music, and they are set in the world of a book series called Wolves of the Beyond. I've been listening to some of The Crane Wives' music lately, so I decided to choose one of their albums for this theme. The album has a lot to do about loss and relationships, so this charcter goes through a lot with her parental relationships, romantic relationship, and her relationship with her kids. Her name is Sionnach, which means fox in Irish. -Story behind the art- Sionnach is a wolf with some fox blood. Her father spent much of his time living in the icy world of Nunquivik, where he was raised with his siblings by their parents, a pure fox and one with some wolf blood. When they left their parent's den, he ventured out towards the wolf territory, all the way in the northwest. He falls in love with a stunning wolf, and he discovers his fox ability to shape-shift into other animals. Shifting into a wolf, he joins the pack with the wolf he loves and they have a single pup. Her name is Sionnach. She was a very catious pup who is stubborn, but she's soft. Her father stayed around to watch her grow up, and she often would get in trouble by /not/ doing things. Eventually, she learned to branch out more. She didn't make many friends in the pack, but a blue-gray wolf by the name of Ciar took an interest in her. They grew close, until they eventually became mates. However, Ciar was one of the only wolves in the pack that Sionnach knew since he would drive off most other wolves. He did this very blatantly once and they argued about it. Their relationship got colder, and when Ciar found out she was expecting pups, he abandoned her. She fled to a den far from the pack to try and hide the pups, fearing a malcadh("Cursed one". They are wolves that have deformity/weakness, for example a splayed paw, no ears, or being blind. They are taken away by the Obea(A female wolf with the job of ridding the malcadhs) to a spot where they are likely to die. Their parents are banished from the pack for having "bad blood" together, and the rest of the pups are taken in by another mother.) in her litter of pups. After losing her mate, she did not want to lose one of her pups. They are born and she manages to hide them for a few days. To her, it seems like there is nothing wrong with her pups. One of her pups does seem to be a bit different. She is a pure white pup- or, well, kit more or less. She resembles an artic fox more than a wolf. Sionnach names this unusual pup Aoife, and assumes she would be fine. When her pups open their eyes, the Obea finds them. She takes Aoife, and Sionnach, not wanting to lose a pup, carefully follows them to the spot the Obea leaves Aoife. She makes it back to the den before the Obea, and Sionnach reluctantly helps bring the other pups back to the pack. Her remaining pups are confused by her leaving, but she told them comforting lies. As soon as she's out, she runs to the rocky cliff side where Aoife was abandoned. Right before she made it, a storm started that caused a rockslide. Sionnach finds Aoife hidden in a tree that she climbed after she was abandoned. Several trees, including the one Aoife was on were knocked down by the rockslide. Sionnach takes her daughter and runs away from the site, nearly dying in the process. She takes care of Aoife for a while, and when another rockslide strikes her other pups sneak out come to find them. They are successful after searching for a few days, and Sionnach decides to teach them about what she knows. The pups become accustomed to a life with their mother, but Sionnach knows that her being their is keeping them away from the packs, which is where they belong. One day, when she's out hunting, the pups get into big trouble and they almost lose some of them. Aoife saves them, learning she has the transformative powers Sionnachs father does. One of the siblings, get injured, however. When Sionnach comes back, the say that they were waiting for her to come back, and she decides to cut them off so they aren't dependant on her. She runs off that night, and runs far, far, away from that forest. She ends up at the edge of the Sea of Hoolemere after a heavy rain and decides to travel to the Nunquivik to learn more about the powers of artic foxes. -End of the story- Camp Feathers hosted by All art by me Music is the entirety of Coyote Stories by The Crane Wives
