hi! So for my entry I drew Elaine and Ari’s cat… why? I drew a scene described in the backstory here. Yes, I made all of it up and probably just about none of it is accurate, but it was fun so I don’t care :D read the notes and credits for the mini story, and congrats on 400 (nearly 600 now!)
Elaine made her way through the sodden grass as the rain poured down over her, and finally she heard just what she was hoping to hear: the soft “meow” of a cat. Lightening cracked overhead and she flinched. /This isn’t safe at all,/ she thought. The cat jerked away from her as the thunder vibrated the ground beneath its paws. “It’s okay,” she soothed, but the cat was only more frightened from hearing her voice. She crouched down and outstretched her arm, feeling more water soak her dress. “Calm down, you’re safe,” she told the cat, but really she was failing to reassure even herself. She inhaled deeply, let out a long sigh, and suddenly, felt at peace. The rain still fell to the ground beneath her, the daisies still blew and bent harshly in the strong wind, the thunder still sounded, but as a gap in the clouds revealed the sun, Elaine was bathed in a relaxing light. “I’ll be done in a moment, don’t worry. Nothing will happen to you, I promise,” this time she truly was speaking to the cat, and as the stream of light began to coat the cat as well, it felt the same peace she did. Elaine did what she needed to do, she cast the spell, and finally she knew Ari would be safe while she was away.
