Instructions

It was a dark, foggy morning. Probably one of the worst mornings of my life. Me and mom were supposed to go to Mr. Vacker’s house, but looks like Sandor is being really finicky, so he won’t let us go. I wish he would stop being so cautious and annoying sometimes, but I guess that’s just how life works. Slow and steady, dad always says. I rush into my wardrobe, picking out a simple red tunic, put on my lipstick, and walk downstairs. “Annalise!” Mom yells through the hallway. “Some guests are coming today! Are you done getting ready?” “Yes!” I yell, but I haven’t brushed my teeth. I quickly rush downstairs, and shove a custard burst made from Grandma Edaline a few days ago, and sprint to the kitchen. My name’s Annalise Nienna Sencen. I live in a ginormous house with my mother, Sophie Sencen, and my father, Keefe Sencen. My oldest sister is the one who I have never met. She “died” supposedly, when I was 3. I don’t remember anything. Dad pulls me into a big hug, and then ruffles my hair. “Good morning, my mallowmelt!” “Good morning, dad!” I say, with a big beam on my face. Dad pulls something out of his pocket, and gives the object to me. “Hey,” he whispers into my ear. “Take this prank elixir, and give it to Sandor.” Mom enters the room.“Honey, are you giving Annalise some more prank elixir again?” “Ugh, you caught me sweetie,” says dad. Way to go mom, you always spill the beans out of dad. “Mom?” I say. “What is it sweetie?” She says, with a smile. “Is everything alright?” “Yes,” I say. “I was just wondering….what happened to Melian?” My mom’s always cheerful face suddenly turned into a frown. “Well, I think me and your father should tell you now. You are ready.” “Melian looked exactly like your father, and she had his characteristics too. Beautiful, brave, a joker, she always had the perks of being a likable person. One day however, something changed. A shady looking man approached our door, and we knew instantly that he was from the Neverseen. “Can we take a look at the eldest girl?” He says, with an evil look on his face. “Her and I need to have a little chat.” Of course, I obeyed him. But Keefe was reading her feelings, and he warned me that she felt excited and powerful, now that the Neverseen was talking to her! We then knew immediately…..Melian wanted to join the Neverseen. She had been planning this the whole time, secretly in her room. She had been making all of the arrangements, able to instantly fill her room with Everblaze. She lied to us, LIED to us!” Suddenly, my mother laid on the floor, fainting, and Melian Elanor Sencen was right behind her…
