435 EO class locomotives built from 968 to 977 to work the DC electrified lines around Preatan and other major cities in the area later on some were assigned to work on part of danburg electrified zone but due their heavy axle loading were only used on one line and some were also sent to other areas with DC electrification but required more robust infrastructure due to the heavy axle load of 22 long tons per axle much higher than the 16 or 20 long tons per axle used on most other locomotives based on the South African Railways class 7E they were also the most numerous class DC electric locomotives but were also one of the heaviest 4 axle locomotives ECGR/Crown Rail ever purchased/built with an axle load of 22 long tons per axle or 49000 pounds and required 85 pound per yard rail
