⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✿ cinnamon ✿ So I wrote a VERY short story based on a prompt (cinnamon) a while ago and basically rewrote it in like 20 minutes. It's not that great and the things like the placement of sentences/dialogue and words (+punctuation) is a little off. I was nervous to put my stories on scratch by here i am :') ----------------------------------------------------------------- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✿ cinnamon ✿ : a short story Melanie came to a stop, causing Valeria to bump into her. "Melanie, what's wrong?" Valeria asked curiously. "That smell,” She said slowly. “It reminds me of her." Melanie was instantly transported back in time to her mother's cozy cafe kitchen. The sun was setting outside and had a strange, beautiful glow. "Careful now," her mother spoke with a gentle whisper, loud enough for Melanie's ears to comprehend what she was saying but quiet enough for other people further away not to understand. "Make sure you don't place the balls too close together or else they'll stick to each other and become one giant cookie." A small giggle escaped from the little child. "What's so funny?" her mother asked confused, as she cracked a small smile. "Your voice! It tickles!" Melanie started to mock her mother's quiet voice. "We don't want to put the cookies too close together-" She trailed off with a terrible reenactment. "Alright Melly, that's enough," she said, struggling to hold back her laughter. Her mother gently placed her hands over Melanie's, guiding her on rolling cookies into perfect balls. She had Melanie place each ball carefully on the parchment paper. After they finished lining up the cookies in perfect 3 by 4 rows, Melanie's mother cleaned off her hands using her beige apron. "Okay! Do you remember the last step?" the mother inquired. Melanie spoke in a slight lisp because her 2 front teeth had fallen out a few days ago. "The next step! Is, a little dash of cinnamon!" they shouted in unison. Melanie's mother burst out laughing. "You sound so funny with your lisp!" Her mother added. Melanie rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Mommy! You know that's not funny!" "Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I won't laugh at you anymore," she said, obviously _still _laughing. It was then, Melanie wished her mother would laugh at her again. But, her mother was no longer present. "HE-LLO! Earth to Melanie! That smell reminds you of who?" Her best friend, Valerie asked puzzled. "Nothing," she responded, dejected. "Just, someone I used to spend a lot of time with. And with that, the two girls continued their walk back home, neither of them saying a word.
