So we all know those "remix and spread awareness" stuff right? Ok, I mean that's great! Awareness should be spread! It's so so so important that people know about this stuff! However . . . I don't think it's ok to put stuff like "Only people who have a heart will remix this." Or, "If you have a backbone remix this." Or even just "I bet you won't." I don't think that's cool. Yes, it's important that people spread the word but to me saying stuff like that just feels like guilt tripping. Or something similar. It sounds like trying to make someone feel bad about themselves cuz they didn't remix something. If someone is going to spread the word shouldn't it be from their heart? Shouldn't they actually be able to mean it? Without something telling them that if they don't remix they don't have a heart? I'm not saying you're a bad person if you've ever made/remixed one of these projects. But even when I first joined Scratch saying that just felt . . . wrong. It's not ok to spread messages saying that if you don't do anything with that post then you "have no heart" and "support *insert something like bulling or whatever*". It's like shallow emotional manipulation in my opinion. And I thought that's what the project was against? Besides most of the time it doesn't really help the cause. Think about it. A message people didn't really put their actually brains into making, and may have only done it so they could prove they "have a heart". If the exact same words are repeated like that with that possibility of why they posted it in the first place do you really think the bullies would think people actually cared? Cuz if they're already in that place they probably see it as a pathetic attempt to show that they're not bad people. Meanwhile, if someone says something that they actually put their brain and heart into, and took several moments out of their day to do that, wouldn't that be much more affective? Even if it's not their story it still shows the affects it has on people and is probably more likely to help people realize that bulling is wrong. In any case it's way more affective then any blindly reposted thing saying that if you don't you're a "horrible person". Once again I'm pretty sure that's guilt-tripping. And the project is supposedly against it. Hypocritical much? Once again if you have made/posted one of these project you're not a horrible person. You may have actually felt bad for not remixing it, or maybe you just thought is was a good way to spread awareness. If you made the first then maybe you saw it online not thinking about the fact that if people ignored it, it was supposedly calling them something bad, or implying that they were to scared to do anything. The point is while I strongly think that attention should be brought to those things the projects often talk about, I don't like those projects. To me they seem hypocritical and ineffective. Maybe even a little bit of doing the opposite of what it's supposed to do. Does anyone else agree?
Sorry if this came off weird or something. It's like 3:27 AM here so instead of doing what a normal person does and sleeps I'm here making my case on something that I'm shouldn't normally do when I'm tired. I'm way more emotional when I'm tired. I also happen to be tired when I make most of my vents. But even with that I think this came out fine.
