HEY EVERYONE! looks like you guys got a bit more time to create your projects than expected! when I started this contest, I gave everyone a deadline of July 1st, 2022. as I am writing this, its currently *checks notes* 2:46 AM on July 1st, 2023... yeah. Turns out that college is rly rly hard and makes you completely forget about scratch.edu! I wish I had a fun interesting excuse for what happened, but the truth is that I genuinely just FORGOT that I made a contest. I'm 19. I created this account when I was 11. Nowadays I think about scratch maybe twice a year at most. I have a lot more on my plate than I did when I was 11, and therefore I just completely forgot :( Luckily I finally remembered about this website and now I've judged all the projects!! without further ado, head over to the notes and credits section to see the placements. also, the original 5k contest project was not deleted by me, but deleted by the website for bad language. oops.
Now, keep in mind that some of the remixed projects were lost to time and now are deleted. I'm sadly unable to rate those ones. Also, I will be rating projects released over the deadline of July 1st. if I was late to the deadline, why cant they be late as well? Here are our top three: Third place goes to "Basically an art dump" by zeraorathunderi! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/771725053 In this project, Zera shows us some of the digital and physical artwork that he has been drawing. What makes this project interesting to me is that I went on to his profile and saw that his artwork has massively improved since the august 2022 release of this project! you go dude! keep on drawing! Second place goes to "The Floss" by Luiss122022! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/718675331/ This is just a simple loop of a character doing a lil dance to some chill stock music. its such a basic concept but it makes me smile anyways :). Look at him go. Doin his lil dance. So fun. Luis's other projects are great too. He makes lots of small minigames with charming sprite work and animations. check him out. And finally, first place, and the winner of the 5k followers contest... "Thumbnail tutorial for contest reupload" by mindbaya!! this project will now be featured on the main studio page. its the second ever project to receive this treatment! in this project, Mindbaya shows explains to us how to easily create thumbnails for scratch projects. the presentation is sleek and retro, with easy to follow instructions and great sound design. Sadly it seems that Mindbaya left scratch in February of this year, meaning he wont be able to see that his year old project managed to win :(. lets bring lots of attention to his work, alright? his animations are fun and professional, but have barely any views. And that's everything! thank you to everyone who submitted a project, everyone who followed this studio, and everyone who sent a really unfunny joke in the comments. all of you are appreciated. Now if you excuse me, I have to start writing a resume so I can get a part time job over summer break. Cherish your childhood guys. growing up isn't all its cracked up to be... see you guys in a year!
