Writing this broke my mind. Spoiler alert for those who have not finished the Wingfeather Saga. The Jewels of Anniera. All blood Annieran royals have special abilities. They can hear dragons speak and they are all connected. Proof: Throughout the series, whenever Leeli plays or sings or even simply hums and the dragons are nearby, she's able to see and communicate with her brothers in a "dream-window thing". And Artham (on the other side of Aewiar), Esben (even though he's a cloven), and Gnag are able to hear her music and connect as well, but not as clearly as she and her brothers can. But I think only some Royal Annierans are Jewels. In Book 4 Gnag says: "...It tells that the only way to open the door is with the Jewels of Anniera. And the key is word, form, and song. The king can't open it alone, though I've tried with all my cunning. I need the Song Maiden. I need the Limner and the Shaper too. Only the three of you can do it." Because of this, I think not /any/ firstborn, secondborn, and thirdborn from any generation of the royal Annieran family can open the Fane. Yes, the firstborn is the Throne Warden, and the second is the High King/Queen. But I think the Royal Annierans are only considered Jewels if they are siblings of three. Note that Gnag didn't refer to Janner and Kalmar as the Throne Warden and the High King. He said they were the Limner and the Shaper, and together with the Song Maiden they would open the Fane of Fire. So it seems that only when there are three siblings born do the Throne Warden and the High King/Queen become the Limner and Shaper. A Throne Warden, a High King/Queen, and a Song Maiden/Master can't open the Fane. It has to be the Limner, Shaper, and their other sibling. If you don't believe me, reread Part Four of Book 4. And check chapter 95. @KingElessar commented that they disagree with this theory because it makes it seem like the other not Jewel Annierans are less special and that goes against Annieran beliefs. Well, yes. Yes it does. But I don't have any other theory. One more thing. I don't get what the purpose of Lore Wains are in opening the Fane. One of my ideas are that because Lore Wains are dedicated to keeping the legends and stories alive in the people's hearts, they don't have a role in opening the Fane. Please write in the comments if you have any ideas! The Fane of Fire. Only the Jewels of Anniera, the Limner, Shaper, and the Song Maiden/Master, can open the Fane of Fire. The Shaper, the High King/Queen, is the only Jewel that is allowed to enter the Fane filled with golden light and walk with the Maker Himself. The door to the Fane is in the floor of a room under Castle Rysen. The Jewels use T.H.A.G.S. (school is legendary for them, so lucky) to open the door. Both the Fane and the underground room are top secret. Even Nia had no idea they existed. I believe that only the royal blooded High King/Queen knew about the Fane. Bonifer (I HATE SQUOON) is an exception. The Holoré and the Holoél These healing stones were created by the Maker, so don't think of them as some evil witch's magic stone. Ouster Will misused their power to invent melding. Gnag perfected the melding. Read Appendices of Book 3 to learn more about the Holoré and Holoél. So you know what melding can do. Now I'm going to state something about the Jewels' abilities. Please read Esben_Flavogle's theory before reading on: I disagree with their theory. I guess it's possible that Janner could have passed his powers to one of the fangs. But this is Janner, a 13-yr-old melding with hundreds of Fangs, and in Gnag and Yurgen's case it was a DRAGON melding with a wrinkled old man. So I don't believe one of the former fangs got Janner's power. I mean yes, Janner's power may have spread to the former Fangs, but I think it would have been so thinly divided that it would almost not have been there at all. I mean, come on, Janner melded with the Fangs and the cloven as well. That's one divided into hundreds. If you read the times where Leeli speaks with her brothers using this ability in Book 4, you can see that it seems that Leeli can hear their voices, but their mouths aren't moving (See Book 4, Page 99). So maybe her brothers were using telepathy. Gnag the Nameless spoke to their minds in the vision too. I think that's an ability the royal Annierans naturally have. This is why I think Yurgen didn't pass on his telepathy to Gnag when they melded. Gnag could already do that before the melding. The theory that Gnag melded with Yurgen and got his powers doesn't make any sense to me. But the possibilities in your results when melding are endless, since nobody in Aewiar understands how it really works. P.S. Comment if you have any disagreements or theories on the mysteries of the Wingfeather Saga! You can advertise your own theory projects too and I won't mind.
