so across the spiderverse right. 1. The first ref sheet, with citizen design and breakdown of the costume. Best viewed in fullscreen. Wanted an undead fellow because I'm on that way too. Arti's a nickname for one username artificialCharisma & Harker is a Parker pun plus the Dracula folks. His name is Exoskeleton here but there are a variety of names one could use: Necrosis, Necrospider, Exoskeleton, Deadspider, before eventually settling on Spiderman in-universe. The venom power was also scrapped, and his power set has instead grown more to "walking corpse", expanded on below. 2. Color tests with sketches from the ref sheet. My original idea was to go in a charcoal + white charcoal style but that proved difficult so now he has no art style. 3. Another run of the design with different colors. Notably the webs have also been limited to a certain part of the forehead. This was an attempt at recreating a digital charcoal style. It did not turn out that way and put me off to the idea of his world being charcoal. 4. The last art piece was inaccurate to what I looked like, though. I'm not that lanky and top-triangular. I traced over a picture of myself for reference and then went in with these sketches. Notably, hips are wider and legs shorter. Belly is a little softer. The citizen design got one change in darkened cheeks to look even more undead. 5. A series of sketches I did on my phone while talking about spidersonas with a friend. 6. The all-b&w design was starting to grate on me though, especially as the charcoal wasn't working out. I also wanted Harker to align more with the spider he was supposed to be based on. Webs got added to his boots. Originally the colors were a lot brighter, but they looked wrong so they were greyed out. This helped with fully aligning him with the spiders. 7. A bust of it with the new design for a stimboard I plan to do! The coloring was done with a digital watercolor brush and then posterized, getting these interesting pinks & greens. * While exact backstory is unknown, Arti has been Spider-Man for about a year. It also "died" an unspecified amount of time (at most 6 months) ago, by being hit by a car. He had an autopsy performed on him, and was brought back to life save for his heartbeat. Died is in quotations because none of this actually happened in any way, shape, or form. Powers include: no sensible heartbeat, being cold to the touch (and thus not showing up on heat vision), extreme regeneration, as well as the standard Spidey set with maybe a hold on super-strength. Being a lowly suburbanite, his webs are not used for travel. It's also very bad at spinning webs. (Recluse spiders don't have the ornate webs other spiders do.) Possibly because he wasn't the one who made the technology behind it. The spider was genetically modified to avoid the necrosis typically associated with its bites, planning to give the recipient what is essentially benign cancer in that region. However, comic stuff. So Arti gets corpse powers on top.
