A Moonless Night Chapter Four ____________________________________________ As the blossoms fell from the trees in a hasty manner as the trees grew green in the mid-Newleaf sun. Not a single cloud was to be seen, and not a thing stirred. The forest was ghostly and quiet, with a sense of warmth and peacefully formed bond. None of these feelings of joy were easy to understand for Jaguarpaw. All he knew was that he felt them, and they were not to be changed for quite a long time. It was as though every thorn on a rose bush turned to a beautiful blossoming flower in the blink of an eye. Not one thing was out of place; not training, not prey for the clan, nothing at all. Jaguarpaw felt as though he were engulfed in a dream, a dream filled with song that was utterly endless. It would keep going on forever, not one note out of place, as he thought. But something was there, quite certainly. There was the smallest malfunction, though it wasn't to be seen, heard, touched, or smelled. It was hidden, deep within the forest. There was no explanation, not a word to fit in it's place. But deep, deep inside, he knew there was a terribly wrong glitch. One that could happen very suddenly within the flick of an ear. He let his paws carry him across the forest, unsure of if he had crossed a border, stumbled over a stream, or passed a whole clan. There was nothing but thoughts- precious little thoughts in the mind of a young cat. Jaguarpaw completely snapped out of the trance, the thoughts fluttering away. There was something much more important. A sound. A growl maybe? No, it was much too quite. //A whisper!// Jaguarpaw thought, unsure if he was jumping to a conclusion or was right. He followed his ears which lead him straight to the Moonclan border. “Aha! Blazepaw's scent.” He whisper-shouted to himself. He followed the scent trail to a clearing farther up the Sunclan side of the border. He crawled into the underneath of a bush, trying to get a better look at the clearing without being seen. Blazepaw was there, laying next to a gray tabby she-cat. His paws were tucked under his chest, making him look like a loaf of bread. “Ghostpaw, what makes you so unsure? Your friend doesn't know, does she...?” He said, looking at the Moonclan cat. She shook her head, staring at her paws. “No. And Celestialpaw wouldn't tell anyone, I'm sure of it. I'm just... Worried. What if someone found out?” She whispered. “No one will.” Blazepaw said with a brisk nod. //What's he keeping?!// Jaguarpaw thought angrily. Out of rage and curiosity, Jaguarpaw sprang from the shrub, leaping into the clearing. “Blazepaw, who is this?!” he spat. Nearly at the same time, a golden she-cat jumped out of the bush, her powerful shoulders causing her to spring gracefully into the air and land in front of the gray Moonclan cat. “Ghostpaw, what are doing with this Sunclan tom?!” she snarled. Slowly, her gaze turned to Jaguarpaw. He got a good look at her face, and suddenly... He recognized her. “Celestialkit?” He said hesitantly. “Jaguarkit...” ____________________________________________ End of part!
