Chapter 11: I was exhausted once I got back to camp, and yet it felt like the whole lake knew about what had happened. No one seemed to care when I told them I needed to rest. I could barely stay up. I thought maybe Lilykit would help, but she gave me an apologetic glance and continued into Leafstar's den. Eventually Robinwing told people to leave me alone, and I could finally sleep. When I woke up, Featheredpaw was gone. Featheredpaw, Hawkpaw, and I were the only apprentices, so we were pretty overworked. **That's probably why he's up so early, there's a lot to do after the battle, and Hawkpaw is in the medecine den, so he and I are the only ones to do the work**, I thought. I streched and left the den, heading over to the medicine den to check on Hawkpaw and the herb store. By the time I was back at camp, it was nearly moonhigh. I could barely walk, and my paws still smelled of moss and herbs. I was starving, and the thought of food was the only thing keeping me moving back to camp. When I padded in, there was only a measly shrew and a robin's wing. **A single wing, coming from a robin... Who left this?** I wondered. **Maybe it's a sign... no, only medicine cats get signs. I'll check with Skyear though, if he's not busy.** I told myself. I saw a sleeping white tom at the back of the medicine den as soon as I walked in, his chest slowly rising and falling as he slept. I sighed inwardly. **I'll go find Robinwing, then. Maybe she'll know what it's about.** I thought.
Chapter 12: After a long day of helping Skyear in the medicine den, I slept easily. I woke up suddenly, around moonhigh, and heard a rustling from outside the nursery. I peeked out of the den to see Needlepaw looking inside the Warriors den, and then heading through the camp entrance. After having a mental argument with myself, I headed out of the nursery and followed Needlepaw. I was as sneaky as I could, but he found me anyway. "Lilykit, you need to stay downwind if you want to be sneaky", Needlefang said. I stood up, facing the reddish brown tom. "Where are you going?", I asked him. I saw a look in his eyes, but I couldn't quite tell what it meant. Then Needlepaw said, "I'm looking for Robinwing, there was a singular robin's wing on the fresh kill pile when I got back to camp, and she wasn't in her nest. I figured it could be a sign.". I recalled a robin's wing on the fresh kill pile a little bit ago. "Okay, can I come with?", I asked him. He seemed a bit suspicious, I had no idea why. "Kits aren't supposed to leave camp, but I guess you've left before, although that was with permission from Leafstar and an adult keeping an eye on you...", I broke in as he continued. "Why do we have to do what Leafstar says? Why is she leader? She does an alright job, but can't we take care of ourselves?", I asked. "I don't know, just come on.", Needlepaw replied. "I don't want to get caught.", he said. We headed off, following the scent trail Robinwing left. After a bit, we got to the Thunderclan border, and I saw Robinwing staring into the water. I padded forward, but Needlepaw stopped me, giving me a look. Then Robinwing stepped back, and I realized the wind had changed. "Who's there?", She asked. She padded towards us, but just before she reached us, Needlefang hid me in a bush and showed himself. He swept his tail against the bush I was hiding in, angling with his ears towards camp. he padded forward, and peered into the water. I snuck back to camp, and saw Needlefang step back to stand between me and Robinwing. They were talking, but I wasn't paying attention to what they were saying. I headed back to camp, and hurried into my nest, quickly falling asleep.
