Owlheart raised his tail in greeting as they walked up to him. "Are you ready?" Lilypaw nodded, excited to explore the territory of her new home. Owlheart began walking and they all followed. Lilypaw scrunched her nose with all the different and new scents she was going to have to get used to. Eventually they stopped and Owlheart flicked his tail towards a worn out path. "Over here used to be a walking trail for two-legs. Fortunately they don't come here anymore. You might find some old dirt from the dogs they would bring here." "Gross." Glisterpaw said, sticking out her tongue. Lilypaw slightly frowned remembering her owners and how they'll feel finding out that their home burned down and their cat was missing. Lilypaw tried shaking the feeling away knowing that they'll get over it and this is her home now. They continued walking in a different direction from the path and stopped again at a small lake. "Cats usually hunt for fish here." Owlheart peered into the water and watched the fish swimming around. For a few moments he stood there then quickly swiped his paw at one and [un-alived] it with one blow. He picked it up in his mouth and showed the others. "You guys will learn how to fish soon. But first you need to master catching more simple prey like mice. Speaking of which, why not take a break and practice your hunting skills?" Glisterpaw immediately jumped to her paws and went off to look for prey with Jaypaw following her. Owlheart trotted up to Lilypaw shaking his head. "Those cats, anyway I'm going to teach you the hunters crouch. First, show me how you would do it." Lilypaw nodded and crouched down. "Good, but lower your hind and keep your tail straight. You don't want your tail dragging along the ground." Lilypaw nodded and fixed her pose. Owlheart purred proudly. "Great! Now let me show you some techniques." While the two were practicing, Glisterpaw was stalking a mouse with Jaypaw watching curiously. Once she got close enough she pounced, it tried escaping her paws but she had it pinned down with her claws. She bite into it's neck, finishing it off. She picked up her catch in her mouth and proudly marched towards Jaypaw. "Good job." He said, praising her. Glisterpaw raised her chin up and scoffed. "I could catch a whole hawk if I wanted to." Jaypaw chuckled. "Pretty sure /you/ would be the prey." Glisterpaw rolled her eyes and buried the mouse to come back to it. Suddenly a cat jumped down from a tree and landed in front of the two apprentices. "Hey, Wavefur." Jaypaw said, quietly. "Did you see me catch the mouse?" Glisterpaw said, a little bit nervously. Wavefur sternly stared at her. "You could catch something bigger." She said and left without saying anything else. Glisterpaw sighed. Jaypaw curled his tail around her to comfort her but she shrugged it off. They both began heading back to where the rest of the cats were. Glisterpaw flinched as Lilypaw jumped in front of her, holding a hare in her mouth. "Guess what! Guess what!" She excitedly bounced around. "I caught a hare!" Glisterpaw backed away a bit and fakely smiled. Wavefur sat next to Lilypaw giving Glisterpaw a side eye. "Great job Lilypaw, quite impressive for your first catch." She said to her, but for some reason felt more directed to Glisterpaw. Lilypaw nodded as a thanks and went off to try to catch some more prey. Glisterpaw looked at Wavefur, then back down at her paws.
