I don’t really consider this body horror. It’s just more monstrous. I just wanted to put the TW on there to be certain, but I really don’t think this counts as body horror. Click/space to look through the pictures This is my un-canon human(?) design for Rykyr, @-_MelonWater_-‘s OC. Which, by the way, Loony, I will take this down if you don’t like it, just tell me. I thought about him way too hard- Uh, design process rant I guess. Ahem, so I always thought Rykyr looked so cool, but like, still can’t draw Sonic style. So, I decided to humanize him and it was a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed working with his more monstrous aspects. I gave him this disproportionate look with his large hands which I think added to the tone I was trying to keep. Rykyr, even in a sonic style, has larger hands, so I definitely wanted to make sure he had that. I also tried to make them very claw like. Less of a hand and more of a weapon almost, so it’s very practical in that aspect where his hands just consist of bone and skin. His legs were a bit trickier because I wanted to keep the cloven hoof look he had. I originally decided against giving him the anatomy of a horse’s leg, but then I saw some really nice examples of it. The end result was a very human leg, but with the extra assets of a horse’s leg, so it fits really well with the cloven hoof without making him look like too much of a satyr. His tail was pretty easy, I just had to draw it. Rykyr has actually rather difficult to draw horns, because they have bumps and they curve in a certain way, so they were actually kinda difficult to draw. His hair. Okay, I’ll explain why it’s so long. Basically I was trying to keep some things proportional to how they are in his original design, so, he has very long hair now. I honestly think it’s really cool and gives him a regal feel, but that might just be my opinion. I decided to give him big-ish ears since his ears are such a prominent part of his sonic design, I decided that he needed better than just normal human ears. I originally planned for him to have bangs since he just had so much hair, but after I adjusted his ears to be bigger, I figured they could hold back his mass of hair. Now you get to see his ears and earrings. I actually messaged Loony over what kind of earrings he would wear and settled on these regal dangly ones with some more modern (I guess?) piercings. He didn’t feel like a super big piercing guy to me, but he did give off earring vibes. His right ear has more piercings than his left, because you can see his right so I thought it was more practical. For clothes, I decided that his pants and sleeves would be torn so to keep that consistent, he has a lot of frayed edges. I wanted to make sure he also looked very formal, because I felt like it would give him an authoritative feeling that would be fit for the “prince of demons”. I also didn’t want to give him punk vibes. I could go on a whole rant on how I hate when they do that to authoritative characters, when it doesn’t really fit and it comes off bleh. That’s my person opinion though and anyways, I’m just happy with what tone he gives off. The colors. So I tried to keep his gray color palette very gray. His skin is just like, very very white because it looked kinda unnatural in a way. I feel like it blends in better with his limbs and other features. His clothes are actually very much bluish gray aside from the silver and gold. I also tried to lean more towards silver because it’s like, a cooler color and his color pallet is very cool. The gold kinda contrasts it though with a warmer feeling. Now I’ll kinda look at each piece included in this. 1. The finished product. Use the color palette because noise is on the rest. Also, Loony, sorry if his palette is a little off, I did my best to replicate the colors, since the picture of him I used was traditional. I think that’s the only picture of him available. 2. Uh, kinda outdated but this was a picture of my process. I changed a few things, but this was to help you see the details because of his hair. I actually had to change his leg decoration things, because they looked too chunky. It also has some pictures that inspired his outfit. 3. A close up of his head and his earring references. Anyways, I really enjoyed designing this and uh, I hope you enjoyed my giant rant. I just really felt like the design process was kinda interesting.
@-_MelonWater_- for Rykyr, me for art and the humanized (?) design, and the internet for references and stuff.
