But the quietness was broken with the sound of leaves crunching. Lilypaw woke up and recognised Glisterpaw's orange fur that was just a blur through Lilypaw's clouded vision from waking up. Lilypaw quietly got up and began to follow her. Glisterpaw left camp and was heading to the river that they were at earlier. Lilypaw hid behind a bush and watched as Glisterpaw crouched down by the river. She heard her murmur to herself but was too far away from her to hear what she said. Suddenly she caught a scent that she hadn't smelled yet but it smelled like another cat. Lilypaw noticed a pair of blue eyes in a bush. A few heartbeats later a white cat had jumped out of the bush and jumped onto Glisterpaw. Lilypaw had come out of hiding and was running towards them. Glisterpaw hissed and scratched at the unknown. Glisterpaw pushed the cat into the river and stepped back. Lilypaw jumped next to her side. The white scrambled out of the river and ran away. "Who was that?!" Lilypaw asked, her heart still beating fast at the sudden attack. Glisterpaw shrugged. "Maybe it's a rogue. Everything happened so fast I couldn't catch the scent." Glisterpaw began licking a scratch on her chest then looked up at Lilypaw. "Why were you following me?" She asked suspiciously. Lilypaw looked down at her paws. "I noticed you were leaving the den so I wanted to see what you were doing." Glisterpaw huffed and rolled her eyes. "Well, it's none of your business." She got up and brushed past her. Lilypaw followed behind. They entered camp and snuck back into the apprentices den. Jaypaw and another apprentice were still asleep. Glisterpaw went back to her bed and curled her tail around her body and tried to cover the scratch on her chest. Lilypaw laid down too and stared at Glisterpaw for a few seconds before closing her eyes and going back to sleep. Lilypaw woke up as the sun shone through the den. All the other apprentices were already awake and were chatting outside, Yawning, Lilypaw got up, stretching her back and shaking her fur. She exited the den and Glisterpaw and Jaypaw were standing outside. "Hey!" Lilypaw said. "Hi." Jaypaw shyly said. Lilypaw looked at Glisterpaw but she was spaced out. Lilypaw shrugged and trotted up to Rainstar who was grooming under a tree. She happily raised her tail as she approached him. "Hello, Lilypaw. How was your day yesterday?" He asked with a welcoming purr. "It was interesting...last night we saw a cat and he attacked Glisterpaw!" Lilypaw looked behind her where Glisterpaw and Jaypaw were sitting. "Oh. Do you know which clan it was from?" Lilypaw shrugged. "Probably a rogue then." Lilypaw nodded and turned around to go back to Glisterpaw and Jaypaw but saw Glisterpaw going into the medicine den. She followed her. When she walked in she saw a fluffy gray she-cat putting cobwebs on her cut from last night. Lilypaw sniffed the air that was filled with lots of different sweet scents. The gray she-cat turned around as she notice Lilypaw entering. "Hello. You're the new cat everyone is talking about, right." Lilypaw nodded. "I'm Shimmerlake, the medicine cat. I take care of sick and injured cats. I'm Rainstar's sister by the way." Shimmerlake gave the most warm and kind smile Lilypaw has ever seen. Lilypaw turned to Glisterpaw whose cut was now covered in cobwebs. "I'm taking care of Glisterpaw's cut right now. The cobwebs stop it from bl33ding." Lilypaw nodded then noticed Jaypaw admiring all the different herbs that were well organised. Lilypaw padded next to him and he jumped startled. "Cool herbs." Lilypaw said. Jaypaw nodded shyly. "Being a medicine cat sounds cool. Learning different types of herbs." Jaypaw said in a quiet voice. Lilypaw nodded. "I wish I were a medicine cat." Jaypaw murmured. Lilypaw tilted her head.. "Why can't you be one?" Jaypaw sighed. "We already have two medicine cats and our clan desperately needs more warriors." Lilypaw rubbed her cheek against his, trying to comfort him.
