Lake of Danger: Chapter 6 (Btw, in the past chapters I might have written Owlheart as Oakheart by accident since their names are so similar lol. So if you see it says Oakheart it's actually Owlheart lmao.) ------------------------------------------------ Lilypaw was returning from battle training with her mentor. The sun was still up high and bright, the light reflected off of her eyes making them appear glowing. Lilypaw looked up at the sky, watching a bird majestically flying by, spreading its wings out as it soared. She was so distracted by the bird she hadn't realised that she was about to bump into someone. She quickly stopped right on time. The cat that was in front of her, stared at her with a look of disgust. "Sorry!" Lilypaw said, crouching low feeling intimidated. The silvery cat scoffed. "You gotta look where you're going." He said. He examined her for a few seconds and his eyes stopped at the green collar she was still wearing that matched perfectly with her eyes. Without warning, he clawed at the collar, causing it to rip. Lilypaw watched sadly as the accessory she had worn for so long in her life, fall to the ground like a leaf. But she couldn't help but feel happy that the fur on her neck could finally blow freely in the wind. "Much better." The tom said, with a smirk on his face. The long cat turned around and trotted away. Lilypaw tilted her head a little confused. "That's Slickstream, he's kinda weird." A voice said, behind her. She turned around to see Jaypaw, sitting down with his tail neatly curled around his paws. A purr began to rumble in Lilypaw's throat. "Hello, Jaypaw." She said. Jaypaw returned the friendly purr. "Hi." Lilypaw looked around, knowing that Jaypaw is usually with Glisterpaw but didn't see her anywhere. "Where is Glisterpaw?" She asked, but was kinda happy that she wasn't around. Glisterpaw was still upset with Lilypaw but Lilypaw wasn't sure what she did wrong. Jaypaw shrugged. "I asked her if she wanted to go hunting since her cut had already healed. But she said just to go with you." Lilypaw frowned. As if she heard them talking about her, Glisterpaw had left the apprentice den and began padding up to the two. She sat next to Jaypaw and licked his ear as a greeting. She looked at Lilypaw and shifted her paws awkwardly. "Um...hey guys." Glisterpaw said. Lilypaw and Jaypaw looked at each other for a second then turned back to Glisterpaw. "Hi." "Hey..." Lilypaw focused on a squirrel that was climbing a tree, trying not to awkwardly make eye contact with Glisterpaw. Jaypaw stood up and shook his fur. "If you don't mind, i'm gonna go help Shimmerlake with some herbs..." Lilypaw and Glisterpaw watched as he walked away. They both sat in silence for a while. Lilypaw broke the silence by clearing her throat. "So, I want to apologize for whatever I did to upset you. But I want to know why your upset with me." She said. Glisterpaw blinked at her for a few seconds then spoke, "I guess I was just annoyed that you were getting so much attention. I also didn't like that /my/ mentor was praising /you/ more and I guess I also felt like you were getting close with Jaypaw so fast and, you know, he's been my best friend since we were kits." Lilypaw nodded. "I'm sorry." "Apology accepted." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Sorry this chapter is a bit short. The next one will be longer.)
