Lake of Danger: Chapter 7 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was a full moon up high in the sky. It shown brightly giving rivers and lakes a beautiful glow. The sky was cloudless with only shimmering stars that is said to be the ancestors of the clans watching over all the cats. Birds singing was replaced by crickets chirping and owls hooting. Rainstar jumped on top of the high rock and before he had said anything, cats began to gather around with exciting chatters. Rainstar flicked his tail to silence them. He cleared he throat before speaking. "It is a full moon tonight which means that it is time for the gathering." Lilypaw was padding up to the crowd of cats with Jaypaw walking beside her. She sat down and looked up at the tuxedo cat on top of the rock who looked more tough than when she had first met her. "What is this /gathering/?" Lilypaw asked. "Every moon all four clans gather at fourtrees at peace. We share clan news with each other." Jaypaw sounded a bit nervous. "Oh, cool!" They looked back up at Rainstar who was about to speak again. "Wavefur, Windnose, Firetail, Shimmerlake, Goldenpaw and Pandapaw will be staying here. If I didn't call your name, follow me." Rainstar jumped off the rock and began walking through the trees behind it. Lilypaw excitedly looked at Jaypaw and followed after Rainstar. Once they left camp Rainstar stopped at the river. He turned around. "We're going to have to cross the river. Owlheart and Luckyear, help the apprentices." The warriors mentioned nodded. Lilypaw watched in awe as the other warriors strongly crossed the river without struggle. Lilypaw trotted up to the river and looked down at the water. She dipped her a paw in the water and quickly pulled it back as she felt how cold it was. Jaypaw stood next to her and nervously looked at the water. "Go on." Luckyear said. Jaypaw shook his head and stepped away with his legs shaking. "Don't worry, Jaypaw." Lilypaw said as she went into the water to show him that it was okay even though she had no Idea what she was doing. She squeaked as she suddenly fell upside and thrashed around trying to get up but couldn't even tell which way was up. Her heart began beating faster than a hare as she realised that the water was much deeper than she thought. For a second her head bobbed back up but instantly fell under the water. Then she felt something grab her neck and lifted her up out of the water. As soon as she got on land she inhaled deeply and coughed as she swallowed some water. She dizzily looked up at the cat who had rescued her and recognised Owlheart's fluffy brown fur. She shook the water out of her fur. She looked around at the cats that were staring at her. "Lilypaw!" Jaypaw called out on the other side of river and leaped into the water. Luckyear quickly jumped in as well and swam next to him making sure the same thing didn't happen to him. He got out and helped Lilypaw get to her paws. Then he turned around and looked back at her. "Wait did I just-" He began but was interrupted by Luckyear. "Come on we have to get going. We just started and one of you already almost just d!ed." Jaypaw and Lilypaw nodded and followed behind the rest of the cats. Glisterpaw walked up to the two. "Wow Lilypaw, dumb move." She said, half joking. Lilypaw chuckled. "Yeah, I shouldn't have done that. But did you see Jaypaw?! He almost swam across the whole river by himself!" She turned to Jaypaw who was staring at his paws. "What I did was kinda dumb too." He said, quietly. "Well it was nice that you were so worried about me." Lilypaw said with a happy purr in her throat. Glisterpaw rolled her eyes and groaned. Soon the smell of many different scents was strong as they climbed up a small hill. Once they reached the top they were able to see the view of four big oak trees and crowds of cats. The sound of chatter filled the air and the three apprentices looked at each other excitedly. Lilypaw began to sprint down the hill but tripped over her paws, causing her to crash into Jaypaw. They both began to tumble and Glisterpaw grabbed their tails trying to stop them but only caused her to fall as well. They all landed at the bottom with a hard thud. Rainstar, much more carefully than the apprentices, walked down the hill while chuckling. "You apprentices have caused so much trouble." He said but with no hint of annoyance in his voice. Jaypaw squirmed as he was getting crushed by the other two on top of him. Glisterpaw and Lilypaw rolled off him. Lilypaw took a moment to catch her breath and helped Jaypaw up. There was so much commotion that they hadn't realised that all the other cats at the gathering were awkwardly staring at them.
