So, I know I’ve posted drawings of this guy before but I just had to make a fullbody so you can see his full design! His bio and backstory below: Name: Cheshire Gender: Male Pronouns: he/him Age: Around 7-8 human years (somewhere around there) Sexuality: Gay Relatives: Unknown siblings, unknown parents, Vermillion (adopted father) Occupation: Performer at the main tent, heir to the carnival Personality: Confident, sly, sassy, elegant, flirty, regal, fun, extravagant Backstory: (this looks a LIIIIIITLE long but it’s not actually) Cheshire was born to two unnamed cats that lived with a human family. He was born to a litter of 10, in which every kitten was either adopted or kept by the family. However, the family was extremely religious and believed Cheshire to be a child of the Devil himself, due to his unnatural coloring and patterns, eyes, and unusually large smile. They believed they needed to get rid of him, for he was a sin and did not deserve to live. They put him in a cardboard box and sealed it shut, so then no air to be let in. They then left the box in an alley and left Cheshire to slowly suffocate and die. However, Vermillion had been walking in town around this time and passed the alley where the box was. Vermillion noticed the scratching and clawing from the inside, and carefully opened it to find a peculiar, wide eyed kitten gasping for air. Vermillion took Cheshire back to the fair and soon took much liking to the young kit. Cheshire ended up living there with Vermillion, who took him under his wing and became his adoptive father. He became very good friends with the other kittens quickly, especially a sweet, nervous kit named Perry. Later on, he became one of the main performers at the fair, in which he “practically runs the place” (his words not mine). As time passes, Cheshire mainly hangs out with Perry, as the two are best friends and had developed strong feelings for each other from an early age. Cheshire was more obvious about it, being very flirty toward him and quite enjoyed in seeing Perry all flustered (which happened a lot, btw). Perry adored Cheshire, and was very sweet and caring around him, as well as a lot more comfortable. However, once again, he does often get very nervous around him sometimes. One day, while Perry was pulling tarot cards by himself to see what the future may hold, he pulled the knife and broken wing cards. Neither of these were a good sign, and therefore made Perry very worried. In response, Perry looked through the deck and took out the Jester card - aka Cheshire’s card (go see my part 18 for cuddlebear211’s map for the explanation on that) - hugging it to his chest and looking down at it admiringly. After a minute or so, he set the card down on the table with the other two and left for bed. Cheshire came in a little later to talk to Perry and say goodnight, but was horrified when he spotted the three cards on the table. He had talked with Perry before about the meanings of different tarot cards, and believed this to mean that Cheshire was going to backstab Perry by pushing him off the high platform while he is helping set it up for Haven’s performance. (Cheshire doesn’t know that Perry didn’t actually pull his card, Perry just took it out of the deck for comfort and set it down with the others). He becomes distraught, upset and angry, as well as afraid of hurting the person he loved. He runs out in rage and scatters the cards on the ground. He dashes into an alley, where he breaks down and begins to cry, believing himself to be a heartless murderer. However, he spots a knife laying on the ground and decides that the only solution is to kill himself, for it is the only way to stop himself from hurting Perry. The next day, right before the performance, he hides in a little gap between the two tents and prepares to stab the knife directly into his chest. Before he does this, though, he brings Perry with him to say one last goodbye. Perry stops him just in time, the knife only centimeters from his fur. He explains the whole situation and that he hadn’t actually pulled Cheshire’s card, and confesses his love to him as well. Cheshire admits he feels the same way, and the two share a kiss. They then go into the tent together as a new couple and watch the show, only to witness one of the fortunes unfold before their very eyes. (GASP DRAMATIC CLIFFHANGER)
