Bio - Name: Maris Species: cat siren (more information in backstory) Gender: bigender? (she/xe) Orientation: polyromantic asexual Personality: loyal, determined, selfless, sensitive, fragile, anxious Backstory - As a young cat, Maris lived by the sea with her parents. Xe loved her family and xer home very much. Still, there was something... missing. She often felt like an outcast, and that xe were different from her family. And xe were drawn to the sea... One day, Maris was swimming alone at the beach. and her parents had still not called xem for her evening meal. Getting worried, xe rushed back to her home, only to find it deserted. Their was a note left in xer nest. It read: Dearest Maris, There are many secrets we have kept from you. We apologize, we only meant to keep you safe. But we cannot bear to keep them from you any longer. Maris, we are not your parents. Like your name, you are from the sea. A siren cat. And you must return there to fulfill your destiny. We have left on a voyage across the ocean. Keep your distance and let go. It will be safer for all of us. <3 Maris shut her eyes tight, not wanting to believe the words on the paper in front of xem. Her parents were not xer parents, and they were leaving her, sailing across the dangerous, stormy sea. Tears streamed down xer face. She cried until xe felt she had no tears left. But as xer last tear slipped down her pelt to the tip of xer tail, something strange happened. The droplet pooled on the end of her tail and hung there, suspended. And slowly, xer body shifted. Her tail became slick and scaly, like an eel's tail. A fin formed on xer back. And gills opened up at her sides. Maris gazed at xerself in wonder, shocked at the transformation. Then her eyes caught the horizon. The thunderstormstorm was growling above xem, sending snarls of lighting down, nearly touching the ocean. The sea churned and frothed, huge waves rising up and crashing down. Her parents, who had adopted xem and raised her lovingly, were out there. Xer eyes narrowing in determination, Maris leaped into the sea and swam out in search of them. Navigating the storm-tossed seas, Maris searched and searched. The ocean was dangerous, and she was scared, but xe needed to find them. At last, she saw a boat riding the waves, rising and falling dangerously high. As xe watched, horrified, the craft overturned, a wave smashing into it and breaking it into pieces. Tears welling in her eyes, Maris swam through the wreckage to save xer parents. She managed to find them and pull them to the surface, safe at last. Maris helped xer parents reconstruct the boat and she pulled them to shore. Xer parents were eternally greatful. Maris now belonged to the sea, and as a virtuous siren cat, she ventured out into the unknown to save others from shipwrecks. Every time, xe returned to their parents afterward, able to spend time with them again despite the fact that she came from the sea. If you read all that low-quality writing, thank you!
