Lake of Danger: Chapter 9 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaypaw padded around the forest that was surrounded by a thick mist. All was silent, not even the sound of leaves crunching beneath Jaypaw's feet. The moon glowed in an eerie way, almost looking purple like the night sky. Jaypaw continued walking, but he did not know where he was going. It felt like his feet moved without him telling them to. The forest felt endless like the cycle of life. It felt like when he reached the end the earth created more forest for him to walk in. The atmosphere began to get darker and darker the further he went. But then, it was broken by a small glow in the distance. Jaypaw began running, trying to reach the light. But it didn't move, as if it didn't exist. Then he suddenly stopped. The glow began to get closer. The closer it got, the more the appearance became easier to see. It was another cat. Soon the cat stood a few fox-tail lengths away. It was a beautiful tortoiseshell she-cat. Her green eyes almost glowed as bright as the moon that had now disappeared. Jaypaw opened his mouth, but no words came out. It was the she-cat that spoke, "As jay's soar, let them be free, instead of doing a risky deed. Once you let them, they'll plant their seed, that'll sprout into a big oak tree. That'll cover and shade all of the cats and protect them from all the bad." Her voice was soft and comforting. Jaypaw tilted his head, unsure of what she meant. Before he could say anything, the tortoiseshell cat disappeared into thin air. Suddenly, the forest began to be covered in ice. He looked down at his paws that were frozen where it was. He looked back up to see a white cat with bright blue eyes. It had a smirk on its face. Slowly another cat appeared behind the mysterious cat. That cat looked much like Silverstar, Jaypaw had realised. Suddenly he felt a tap on his back. He hissed, knowing he couldn't move and run away from whatever had touched him. Then he woke up. Lilypaw was tapping his back trying to wake him up. "Ahh!" Jaypaw yelled, startled by Lilypaw. His fur was puffed up like a cotton ball. Lilypaw blinked at him. Jaypaw's face turned red in embarrassment. "Oh, sorry.' He said. Lilypaw giggled. "Didn't mean to startle you." She said, grinning. Jaypaw stretched his back and front paws. He stepped outside and looked around. The forest looked normal and there was no mist surrounding it. He looked up at the sky, wondering what the she-cat meant in his dream ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- End!
