Lake of Danger ~ Chapter 10

Lake of Danger: Chapter 10 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sun was in the sky, high and bright, but the wind was cold and there was little warmth. The leaves on the trees were already changing color and there were burrows in the ground for critters about to hibernate. Jaypaw and Lilypaw were hunting by the river, trying to get more fish before the cold froze the water. Jaypaw swung his paw into the water, trying to hook a fish but it quickly swam away before he could even touch it. He sighed and sat down under a tree, bored. He watched Lilypaw staring at the water, her tail swatting the air. /Maybe I should tell her about that dream I had.../ he thought to himself. But then he caught the scent of another cat that was from another clan. Soon he realised there were two cats, and their scent smelled familiar. A few moments later two small apprentices appeared at the other side of the river. Jaypaw quickly trotted up to the river to see who it was. "Thunderpaw and Windpaw? What are you guys doing here?" He said, surprised and confused. Lilypaw looked up at the two and tilted her head. "You guys are on Lakeclan territory." She said. "Actually no we're not. This is the border, if we cross the river /then/ we'll be on your territory." Thunderpaw said, stretching his paw out over the water, teasingly. Lilypaw rolled her eyes. "What are you guys even doing here?" She asked, suspiciously. Thunderpaw smugly shrugged. "I don't know I was just bored. Windpaw decided to come along because she wanted to see Ja-" Windpaw pushed him to the ground before he could finish with her face flushed. Thunderpaw chuckled and smirked. "Ignore him." Windpaw said. Thunderpaw shook his fur. He grabbed a small log and placed it over the river to make a small bridge, "What are you doing?" Jaypaw asked. Thunderpaw began to march over the log and landed on the other side of the river. "No one is going to know." He said. He began to sniff around the area he has never been in before. Jaypaw nervously looked around, making sure no cat was around because if there was, they would be in a lot of trouble. "Thunderpaw! Get back over here!" Windpaw shouted. Thunderpaw rolled his eyes. "Come on. Just cross over the river, unless you're scared." He teased. Windpaw sighed and bounded across. But she tripped over the edge and fell onto her face. Jaypaw helped her up and she blushed. "Oh, t-thanks." She said, her voice slightly stuttering. Lilypaw narrowed her eyes at her suspiciously. Lilypaw flicked her tail and sighed. "I think you guys should go back before someone comes." She said. Windpaw nodded but Thunderpaw groaned. Windpaw grabbed Thunderpaw by the scruff on his neck and pulled him back to the other side of the river. "Ow." Thunderpaw grumbled. Windpaw rolled her eyes and turned around. "By Jaypaw!" She said before leaving, making sure Thunderpaw was following behind. "Bye!" Jaypaw called back. Lilypaw watched the two siblings leave until she couldn't see them anymore. "Let's go back to camp." She said. Jaypaw nodded and opened his mouth to say something but Lilypaw had already walked. Jaypaw sighed, sad that he didn't get to tell her about the dream. /Maybe it's for the better/ he thought before following her. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- End (This was kind of a filler chapter)
