Borrowed time I am a man on borrowed time I sketch the hours away No one gets the time of day I sleep a dangerous amount Half an hour seems dangerous now There is always something I could be sculpting, something I could be painting, something I could be sketching, Like this datura flower: She is suspicious And enigmatic. Pale and fragile. Emphatically drooped to her content. Always whispering Always concealing something. I cannot sleep But even if I could, Even if I had a full day to rest, I would still be tired. Its all my doctor can to to keep me awake To keep me alert. Its all my doctor can do To make me sleep. They say I’m pale at Witherbloom My skin is white as snow; Deathly white, With ghoulish pink undertone. Every time I blink I feel the pressure. I could be sculpting, I could be painting, I could be sleeping. I am a man on borrowed time -Lucifer
{Quick A.U.} Welcoming in October! I posted this episode on hivezine about a month ago and afterwards just kinda took a break. I am so sorry, I will try to do better, though I think I’m going to have to cut down posts to once a week. Thanks for understanding! -Philo <2 {analysis} This poem is one narrated by a student named Lucifer. For folks who haven’t noticed this, most characters from Witherbloom are based on types of flowers (Hemlock, foxglove, etc.) and their meanings. I couldn’t find a way to incorporate it into his name, but Lucifer’s corresponding flower is the Ghost Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) which is one of very few plants that do not photosynthesize. They are ghostly white and have some interesting properties (they can even be made into a preventative medication for epileptic seizures!). If you’re interested, definitely look them up. They definitely represent Lucifer well in my opinion.
