for those who want more than just a song, here you go (see notes and credits before reading) ———————————————————————— current joys - a different age: this slowcore album is one of my favorite albums ever, along with current joys' debut. touches on themes such as nostalgia, isolation, and death. sign crushes motorist - hurting: another album by a slowcore artist. this album is more stylistically diverse and more lofi, and has lyrics mainly focusing on heartbreak and depression. frank ocean - blond: some people have probably heard of this one before, but this is a rap/art-pop album very highly regarded by most musicians, which focuses on heartbreak and loss. liana flores - recently (EP): an indie-folk type EP, known mainly for the song "rises the moon". in the words of the artist herself, these are songs of "hurt, hope, and the ocean". clairo - brains a bus station (EP): this EP is a very early clairo project, and can only be found on bandcamp. while not as good as her more recent works (which i'm planning on listening to but haven't heard yet), it has its charm. main theme of this album is adolescence. radiohead - ok computer: this album is a pretty obvious one. possibly one of the greatest albums in alternative/experimental rock history, this album is mainly a social commentary on the emptiness of modern society. ———————————————————————— this is all i can think of for now. i might do a sequel but i'll need to listen to a few more albums to pick out the saddest.
notes: 1. i won't be marking whether or not these are explicit, so listen at your own risk. 2. unless marked as an EP, it's an album.
