Chapter 66: Phoenix was tiring and retreating from Agatha, so I easily stepped in front of her and let her have some respite. Lacing my ice around her fire, I tugged it around Agatha, but she resisted. She had certainly gained a lot of strength from Hell. I could dimly recall her speaking to me, but I blocked it out. I knew anything she said would only distract me. I clashed my blade against hers, and we sparred across the floor. At one point I almost fell under a blow to the shoulder, but I felt a strange whoosh of feathers and Agatha was pushed off me, enough to let me stand up again. Slowly but surely, I parried her blows and laced my ice behind her, stepping back inch by inch, centimeter by centimeter, millimeter by millimeter, until I reached near Thana and the others, at an exact angle to where I knew Thana could not be seen easily by Agatha. Tilting my other hand slightly as a signal, I told Thana to make the portal. It was crucial that it happened now, otherwise Agatha would notice and stop her, and we would be stuck here forever. The burning flames and air were not helping me to replenish. Thana did not disappoint. I dimly remember a bright pink flash and then I blacked out, coming back to find myself smack at the top of a hill, with North Star on top of me. And Phoenix and Agatha were nowhere to be found. Chapter 67: “About time you returned,” North Star thrust his muzzle in my face. I tried to thrust myself up but felt dizzy and rested my head against his flank. “You reek of Hell,” North Star snarled slightly. “Thank you,” I snapped back. Obviously it would not be a good idea to tell him I rode Darkness of Night behind his back. What’s going on in camp?” I asked. “Moonrise has been preparing for a while. But the Pyrokinetics have advance and clashed with them from in front, while the Frosters, apparently seeing the vulnerability, have attacked from behind.” I cursed aloud “Are there any strange beings there? Like, for instance, shadowy creatures?” I asked. “Shadowy creatures? No. And I sincerely hope they don’t come, whatever they are. Moonrise is already outnumbered and exhausted.” I mustered my strength, borrowing some from my energy necklace. I got up. I got on North Star. I put on the backpack that was on his back, my backpack, which had seen so much. “Well, here are two more numbers, and more to come,” I responded. “What do you mean?” North Star asked cautiously, not used to this tone in me. But my journey through Hell had bolstered my confidence. “You’ll see.”
