Chapter 70: I felt a tingling sensation in my core again, and this time, I didn’t think about heart failure. I let it take over. “Your instinct,” North Star hissed in my mind. “It’s finally emerged.” Letting it control me, I closed my eyes and raised my arms and felt the power coursing through my muscles. I let it out through my necklace as a portal, and opened my eyes. There was an icicle tornado right in front of me. And everyone was staring at me. I took advantage of that shock and sent it spinning straight toward the Pyrokinetics. The icicles did their work. Quite a few Pyros fell under the sharpness, and others had their strength weakened by it. Taking advantage, I wielded my dagger and went into the thick of it, throwing Pyrokinetics into disarray. If we could get the Pyros out of the way, we would only need to take on the Frosters. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about Agatha. Author's Note: That's what happens when you have too much victory. Sigh, RIP -Jenna (wait NOT TO ME IM NOT DEAD YET)
Chapter 71: Despite the appearance of my victory, the battle had not ceased. As a dark presence seemed to enter the grounds I knew within my heart who must have arrived, Agatha. And indeed, it was her. Her and her shadow people. She emerged from the trees to the left of the valley, along with what must have been hundreds of shadow people. They looked harmless, just blobs of shadows in human forms, but I knew first-hand just how dangerous they were. North Star cursed violently in my mind as soon as he saw them. Agatha did not address anyone. Her face screwed in concentration, she whispered a word and the shadow warriors leapt on the Frosters. The Frosters retreated immediately, many of them falling and writhing in pain. Shadows seeped from their skin and they disintegrated, turning into shadow warriors themselves. Before I had the chance to process this, a powerful voice coated the air with hostility. “Oh Vera, what a lovely attempt at victory, I must put an emphasis on the word ‘attempt’ though, considering it is not a possibility for you nor your army. You see, I’m the one standing here with the power behind me, a power stronger than anything this sad excuse for a defense could fathom.” Agatha was on a boulder in the valley, looking towards Vera, who was in the front looking back at her, her head raised, and a fierce look in her eyes. A pose worthy of a statue in the hall next to Shristine. Agatha then turned to me, her eyes burning with furious passion I had never seen. “And you, you had your chance to stand beside me, to be a victor as I will be once I conquer my enemies. But no, you chose to completely betray me. Not only me, but your entire kind, those whom you shared your life with until you decided to bear the mark of a traitorous race. Those who pretend the blessing of the great Artemis, your own namesake. Which, when I truly ponder it, is quite fitting for a girl like you, rejecting her title as daughter of Agatha Solace in hopes of holding a meaningless place as a consul that lacks any authority in this world.” I was stunned into silence, and the whole battlefield was quiet, as if her ringing voice had stunned all of them as well. She acted as if I chose to become a Froster. And more importantly, she used my ambition against everyone, exposing my innermost feelings to the world. But she wasn't done. “I do wish you hadn’t dragged down Phoenix with you in your selfish quest. I’ve seen her capabilities, she exhibited strong potential to be one of a kind in the history of Pyrokinetics. After all, she went through Hell alone, accomplishing the feat of the ancient rulers! And she was ready to go a second time! Yet how can she accomplish such while mingling with the pathetic Frosters? It’s quite simple, she cannot. So while you may blame me for the destruction of your people, there really is no one to blame but yourself.” she finished, raising her hands into the air like she controlled the world. Then an even more ringing and powerful voice emerged. “Is that so Agatha? Then witness my power. But more importantly, witness my master’s power.” Author's Note: Phoenixxxxxxxxxx!! -Jenna
