-Contains scene from book 1 [which i wont post] Soarin was holding on to the armrests on his chair and was hyperventilating. “Calm down!” exclaimed Tiny. “Mr. Soarin, you are permitted to—“ Soarin burst through the door, cutting off the nurse, and when he was supposed to make a turn, he skidded to a halt but couldn’t stop fast enough and sent boxes flying. He turned and continued running down the hallway. He skidded to a halt suddenly, Blazze and Mouse crashing into him. “We’re here!” he exclaimed before bursting through the door. He nearly passed out again as he saw Prophecy, Lila, Free, Breeze, Silver, Star… and a foal. “I’m really old now,” muttered Prophecy. Soarin staggered forward and looked down at his foal. She was small with big wings, like Soarin, and she had zebra markings, like Star. Her shoulmark was a bird. “Let’s name her Byrrd,” muttered Star. “Okay,” murmured Soarin back. At that moment, Tornado burst through the door. “What did I miss?” she asked. Byrrd let out a whimper and crouched behind Star. Soarin chuckled and nudged Byrrd out of hiding. She acts like Cullorblynd, he realized. She was shy, too. [[Cullorblynd, found in book 1, 2, & 3: Gallop Far Away, Hard On Your Hooves, and Hoarse Hope(Or more)]] [[Later]] Soarin was reading aloud to Byrrd and Star. “… Cullorblynd woke up to find Rainflame prodding her awake. ‘Fire! Come see for yourself, Cullorblynd!’ Cullorblynd jumped out of bed and sprang to her hooves. She zoomed out of her cloudplace and down into the clearing. She saw a huge fire sweeping around, her home being destroyed. She sped up to the clouds and grabbed a huge chunk. She got it wet, and dumped it on the fire. She gasped as it only roared louder, and she saw Littlecloud and Mousestar laying dead. Luckily the horses each knew a few remedies and some treatments, so they could teach that to a foal. ‘Is there anybody out here!?’ she yelled, her call half drowned by the loud roaring of the flames. She winced as the fire crackled and spit out a few sparks on her. She shook them off, knowing they couldn’t set fire to her. She heard the cry of Bubbles, and saw Flire trying to help him, but Bubbles was stuck in brambles. Cullorblynd zoomed down and ripped the brambles in fury, confusion, and fear all at the same time. ‘Ow!’ snorted Bubbles, but ran out. ‘Thanks,’ he called over his shoulder. He wasn’t the best flier, but he managed to go up to the clouds. Bounce, Wing, Dash, Flire, and Cullorblynd started searching the horseplaces. ‘Everybody’s a pegasus!’ she heard Bubbles call. They all flew up, a worried/embarrassed look on their face. Rainflame zoomed up, panting. Flire, Bubbles, and Cullorblynd gasped when they saw half his face furless, his eyes bloodshot. ‘Never… play with fire,’ he panted. Cullorblynd nodded. ‘Yeah, I got that.’ She turned and licked her back, for the sparks had stung her. Feather and Midnight had moved to Tiny’s old horseplace, so they were protected by Highwater. Cullorblynd looked at her lost home, and as she focused she seemed to flash colorblind and normal. I’m Cullorblynd. Not ‘Little Weak Foal,’ she told herself. I can stand this. Cullorblynd gasped as it never turned back from colorblind. ‘What’s wrong, Cullorblynd?’ asked Flire. ‘I’m… colorblind.’ Flire gasped, and her eyes ran blank. ‘Of course you’re Cullorblynd. Now what’s—— oh,’ muttered Rainflame. Cullorblynd didn’t see Flire ginger — she saw her gray. She didn’t see apples red - she saw them gray. Cullorblynd looked around in the gray world; and blinked. When she blinked she got her color back, but it quickly faded to color-less. She sighed. ** Bubbles’ View ** Bubbles was laying on the ground in exhaustion. He opened one eye to see Cullorblynd soaking her face in water, trying to remove her color-blind-ness. ‘Face it, Cullorblynd, you’re colorblind.’ Cullorblynd flicked her ears to show she heard, and Bubbles sprang to his hooves as three strong cats pounced on him. Bubbles saw Flire lash her hooves at a ginger one, but he stopped her. Cullorblynd got up, and looked surprised. ‘They’re kits!’ Flire looked puzzled. ‘Up in the clouds?’ The ginger kit flicked the longest fur on her head out of her eyes, and sat up strong. ‘I’m Flame, and this is Pine and Greenleaf.’ Pine was a dark brown male, and Greenleaf was a tabby gray female. Flame showed them her tail, and Flire backed off when she saw that the tip had been bitten off. ‘Okay, so first question: how did you get here?’ Flame flicked her tail toward Snoutain, the snow mountain. ‘We climbed up there. And let me guess; your next question is how we walked on clouds.’ Bubbles nodded. ‘We are special. Our great great great great aunt’s adopted sister is a pegasus. The generations after her could walk on clouds, and/or fly.’ Cullorblynd nodded. ‘But why did you attack me?’ Greenleaf glanced nervously at Pine, and Pine glanced at Flame. ‘We were practicing fighting.’ [[Months later of building cloudplaces and inventing cloudplace items]] [C
** Flame’s View ** Flame woke up huddled with her little sister and her mate. She stood up and stretched in her cloudplace, and started reading a clook about Littlecloud until they woke up. —- THE CLOOK SAID: —- ‘ Chapter One Littlecloud was awake in his herb stock, sorting the juniper berries that Mousestar accidentally knocked over. He turned to Mousestar, who was asleep, snoring loudly. He let her sleep, and he sighed as Tigerpelt went nuts with finishing his cloudcup, and knocked over the yarrow leaves and poppy seeds. Tigerpelt charged out, and Littlecloud winced as Tigerpelt lodged himself onto a strong oak. —- Flame looked up as Pine stretched and Greenleaf yawned. She set down the clook, and wandered over. ‘Hello.’ [[A few hours later]] Flame was napping, dreaming about the fire. She woke up to find Rainflame and Cullorblynd racing. She remembered Cullorblynd’s colorblind-ness, and ducked as they zoomed over her head and landed. ‘Sorry “bout that,’ said Cullorblynd. Flame nodded, and padded out of the clearing. She ran over to Snoutain, and climbed determinedly down the steep cliff, clawing her way down. She spotted a mouse and started stalking. She pounced, and ate the mouse. She looked up, her ears pricked when she heard rustling in the bushes. She gasped and ran as fast as she could when she saw a fox leap out of the bushes, showing his fangs. She bounded up a tree, and waited until the fox gave up and left. She jumped down and started for the clouds. She bounded over to her cloudplace, where she found Greenleaf drinking some water, Pine clawing on a stored log to sharpen his claws. Flame licked her front paw and wiped it on her ears. ‘I caught a mouse for myself,’ she muttered,” finished Soarin.
