Byrrd leaped out of bed and glanced around frantically. A loud alarm was going off, and smoke was rising inside her bedroom. At that moment, Soarin burst through the door, grabbed her by her wing with his wing, and leaped out of the window, safely landing beside Star. Byrrd listened closely as Soarin spread news to Star hurriedly. “Prophecy’s putting out the fires. I here one’s by Echo’s place, too. Vision’s helping, but his magic is weak since he’s been up since 1:02 A.M. Raiq, Arch, Free, Lila, Nightshade, Evy, Imagine, Forest Fire, Tree Branch, Dr. Jeff, and Nurse Bee are all helping, too. The fires are pretty big, it might take the whole of Main River to put out these fires.” Byrrd gasped and spread her wings, flying up to see what’s happening. Two fires raked across Cloud, but it looked like they were sweeping across half of Cloud. “I think they might be bigger,” she called down. Soarin came up next to her, staring in horror as he saw them. [[Later, Soarin’s View]] “Racdrops!” cursed Soarin under his breath as sparks landed painfully on his back. He shook them off and continued pouring buckets of water on the fire until part of it was out. He yelped as several sparks landed on his front leg, burning hot. “Ow!” he yelped before flinging them off. His fur was singed, and it hurt a bit, but other than that he wasn’t harmed. He halted in midair, spinning around as two mournful wails came from behind him. Oh, oit, no, he thought desperately. Please, not another pegasus! Aqua was one too many! Sure enough, Echo was laying on the ground, a few sparks on her neck. Dead, she was cold to the touch. Vision and Arch lay on the ground, desperately trying to bring her back to life. “Sprink!” spat Soarin suddenly. “Why does everyone have to die?!” He turned and charged off, cursing under his breath. [[After the fire]] Soarin listened sadly as a black stallion spoke traditional ‘Rest In Peace’ words. “Echo was a brave, strong, fearless mare,” he rasped. “She was killed by the fire, sparks found on her neck. We all hope she finds her way… to the spirit world… safe and sound… with no harm come to her soul. Let…” he broke off with a gasp, making Soarin come look. Out of Echo’s dead body, a transparent figure rose up, with a blue-ish glow. It nodded, then rose up to the skies. “Echo’s soul,” he muttered. The figure stopped and looked down on them. It’s voice echoed eerily as it spoke: “Fear not, my herd-mates. I will find my way safely to the Arullyi Kksindii.” Arullyi Kksindii? What’s that? “Arullyi Kksindii? That’s Tigriiy!” Soarin heard another pegasus exclaim. He remembered hearing that Tigriiy was the language of the tigers. The figure continued rising, even though almost all of the pegasi were murmuring to each other.
